VIDEO: Darwyn Cooke’s 75th Anniversary Batman Beyond Short

Artist Darwyn Cooke brings back the world of Terry McGinnis and his futuristic version of the Dark Knight via a new Batman Beyond short, which helps commemorate the world’s greatest detective’s 75th anniversary. The short features McGinnis coming face to face with his most formidable foe yet: The Batman himself.

The Dark Knight rises to The Hub in Batman The Animated Series, Sept 6

The screen goes dark. Police blimps circle overhead, as two goons suspiciously run from a burning bank. Cops are on the chase, but not nearly fast enough, as the crooks look to escape. Then, before their very eyes, the grim visage of the Dark Knight drops from the heavens, ready to stop them at any cost. You all know the drill, and now you can repeat this intro again and again as Batman: The Animated Series heads over to the Hub on September 6th. The show that would spin-off Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond, and so much more is joining the network’s Fall schedule, set for Tuesdays at 5pm. Sure, we’re all excited for the Dark Knight Rises, but this iconic toon is really where it all began.

An interview with Cartoon Network’s ThunderCats Thunder-Cast

An interview with Cartoon Network's ThunderCats Thunder-Cast

The ThunderCats are loose again on Cartoon Network! After months and months of buildup and waiting, last week, the CN finally unleashed the premiere episode of the new ThunderCats series with a one-hour special episode called Omens. Perfectly reviving the 1980s classic toon, the new animated series has an entirely fresh take on the originals, with a bold new story, all-new mythology, and a brand new cast. Amongst the biggest players on the series are Kevin Michael Richardson as Panthro, Matthew Mercer as Tygra, and Will Friedle as the voice of the new Lion-O. Friedle, for those Batfans out there, is known for his role as Terry McGinnis in Warner Bros.’ other toon, Batman Beyond, and will now bring Lion-O to a new generation of Thunderfans. Check out what the cast had to say about the roles in this exclusive interview

The Fairly OddParents celebrates 10 years on Nickelodeon

The Fairly OddParents celebrates 10 years on Nickelodeon

For ten years, The Fairly OddParents has been entertaining folks across the Nickelodeon empire. Joining in the ranks of SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer, the adventures of Timmy Turner and his magical fairy godparents have reached their 10th anniversary, moving into a special league of all-time classic toons. Just to put this amazing accomplishment into some better perspective, 10 years ago: New episodes of Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, and Johnny Bravo were on Cartoon Network. Rugrats, Men in Black, Pinky and the Brain welcomed The Fairly OddParents as a Nicktoon. Pokemon Johto League Champions, Max Steel, and Batman Beyond were on something that used to be called the KidsWB! Seems a little more impressive now, huh 🙂

The Hub 2011-2012 toons: Transformers, Littlest Pet Shop, Batman

The Hub 2011-2012 toons: Transformers, Littlest Pet Shop, Batman

When The Hub premiered on our television screens, it graced us with old cartoons that we know and love. We’re talking G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, Conan the Adventurer, Men in Black: The series, Batman Beyond, Transformers Generation 1, and others. But they didn’t limit their offerings to 80’s and 90’s cartoons — instead, the Discovery and Hasbro venture broadcast original animated toons like: G.I. Joe: Renegades, Transformers: Prime, My Little Pony, and much more. To add to that list of new original animated shows the Hub announced its 2011-2012 program line up — even including a Warren Buffet animated series. Take a look at the Hub’s line-up for 2011-2012

New Ben 10 series on Cartoon Network after Ultimate Alien

New Ben 10 series on Cartoon Network after Ultimate Alien

First, there was Ben 10. Then, the team aged, and changed, to become Ben 10: Alien Force. After his identity was exposed, the group evolved again, from Omnitrix to Ultimatrix, becoming Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. …but the story doesn’t end there! Cartoon Network recently announced that there will be a fourth title to the franchise, expanding on the Ben 10 Universe. There are no names or details yet released on the toon, which makes guessing all the more fun! Will this actually be the realized April Fool’s project we spoofed, Generator Rex: Ultimate Alien? Doubtful. But we’re not exactly sure where the next Ben 10 toon will take the series. Maybe 10 years further in the future, similar to Batman Beyond? Could this be the reality of Ben 10,000? What would you think of that?

Batman Beyond The Complete Series now on DVD

Batman Beyond The Complete Series now on DVD

A few months back, we got word Warner Bros. was bringing Batman Beyond The Complete Series to DVD box set, and we felt much excitement. That excitement was greatly magnified when WB sent us a free copy to review! Between Batman: The Animated Series, Justice League, and Batman Beyond, we got to experience stories the live-action films, comic books, and other toons have never been able to approach. Set in 2039 (100 years after the first Batman comic was released) Batman Beyond plays host to a future Crusader, the Dark Tomorrow Knight Terry McGinnis, picking up where Bruce Wayne left off — and, of course, with the old man’s help at every move.

Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. tease Green Lantern The Animated Series

Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. tease Green Lantern The Animated Series

Bruce Timm has certainly made his stamp in the world of animation and super heroes. From the early 1990s, with Batman: the Animated Series, to Superman, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and all of the Warner Premiere videos. However, it’s his latest venture that has other creators green with envy. Come on, “green!” That’s brilliant. No worries, it’s all in a similar light (light!!) as Bruce Timm starts up with Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The DC Comics super hero is prepping his debut on Cartoon Network thanks to Timm and his pals at Warner Bros. Entertainment. Jim Krieg, Giancarlo Volpe, and DC Entertainment’s CCO Geoff Johns are also helping pull the reigns on the back. We’re still waiting for more info on the toon, such as a specific launch date, but check out the teaser poster in the meantime!

Batman Beyond: The Complete Series makes Warner Bros. a hero

Batman Beyond: The Complete Series makes Warner Bros. a hero

Warner Bros. Animation has a rich history of bringing DC Comics super heroes to life via animation, and then to your homes via DVD collections. One of the more popular, if not cult-ish, toons that has since been neglected in a complete collection is Batman Beyond, the Future Knight version of the Batman mythos, created by Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League folks like Bruce Timm and Paul Dini. Now, WB unveils that they’re making everything right in the world, releasing Batman Beyond: The Complete Series, a nine-disc DVD set, on November 23rd, 2010. The package includes all 52 episodes, bonus features, and a 24-page booklet. Check out the box art!
