Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas Special Edition

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas Special Edition

Back in 1997, Disney hoped to recapture some of the magic of their Beauty and the Beast masterpiece, with an animated holiday special. Neither a sequel nor a prequel, this “midquel” takes place within the timeline of the original Beauty and the Beast, after the fight with wolves and before Beast gives Belle the castle’s library. Still a grumpy guy, Beast forbids Christmas, prompting Belle, Cogsworth, Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, Chip, and others to convince him that Christmas is a good holiday. I mean, obviously — presents!! On November 22nd, nearly 15 years later, Disney is bringing the holiday adventure home with Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas Special Edition, available on Blu-ray, DVD, and Movie Download. Chaotic folds as trading card games deal 4Kids a bad hand

Chaotic folds as trading card games deal 4Kids a bad hand

Five or ten years ago, 4Kids was riding high. The Fox Box was a premiere showcase for toons like Sonic the Hedgehog, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Viva Pinata, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Pokemon. More importantly, the company was dominating in the field of trading card games. At the height of TCGs, recess across the globe was owned by gauntlets of cards, with kids showing whose monster or dragon or beast or bot was superior. Today, 4Kids is a different story, with financial woes, a new program block called Toonzai, and a mighty blow to the TCG empire with the loss of TC Digital Games. 4Kids was majority owner of TCD which, along with TC Websites, was a major factor in the Chaotic line. With those pieces gone, the Chaotic brand is essentially all but dead – certainly bad news for animation and TCG fans. Check out the detailed press release

The classic has returned! It may be “a tale as old as time,” but today is all that matters now as Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment brings the Academy Award winning film Beauty and the Beast home to Blu-ray and DVD Combo packs. Beauty and the Beast: Diamond Edition is unleashed from the Disney vault for the first time in nearly a decade, and the first time in the HD Blu-ray format. One thing we always took some bit of an issue with … so “Beauty’s” name is Belle, right? How come Beast’s name is …Beast? He doesn’t get a cooler name, like Steve? Jacob? Beastimus Prime? Bah. Whatever the case, we can’t wait to get our hands (paws?) on the film. Check out the full press release
