Mike Judge gets Beavis and Butt-Head ready to return to MTV

Fourteen years later, and Beavis and Butt-Head are still… well… Beavis and Butt-Head. As one of the most beloved, and polarizing, animated series of all time, Beavis and Butt-Head helped solidify MTV, and cable as a whole, as a viable animation outlet. The teenage duo will star in 24 brand new episodes, adding to the 200 that ran from 1993-1997, all courtesy of creator Mike Judge, whose King of the Hill ended it’s own extended run on Fox just recently. No longer limited to the world of music videos, Beavis and Butt-Head are now free to roam across all of MTV’s shows, passing comments on Jersey Shore and 16 and Pregnant with …uh huh huh huh… glee! And while it appears Daria will not visit any more, that could possibly be because she’ll have a revival of her own, soon enough.

They were not bright. They were not polite. They were not clean or rich or polished in any way, shape, or form. But man oh man, Beavis and Butt-head were funny; an absolutely one of a kind, unique animated experience. Mike Judge, the shows creator and the voice behind each character, parted ways with the boys to work on his next series, King of the Hill. With a successful 13 season run of Hill behind him, the rumors we reported back in July are true: Judge will revive the Beavis and Butt-head series. For 14 long years, we’ve had nothing but the memory of MTV’s animated classic. The toon, which has since become an incredibly popular cult hit, broke ground with everything from over-the-top story lines to critiquing the network’s own music videos. No official date has been set for the new episodes to hit, but targets are aiming for this summer. Uh huh huh huh. Heh Heh.
