Marvel and Madhouse Team Up for Marvel’s Avengers Confidential: Black Widow and Punisher

According to a recent report by Entertainment Weekly, Marvel will be continuing its partnership with Madhouse via a new animated OVA titled Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher, which serves as a follow-up to last year’s Iron Man: Rise of Technovore.

Scheduled for a Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital release on March 25, Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher focuses on the two titular “street-level” Marvel heroes first go against each other, and then team up against a common foe.

From comic book to movie theater, so many of Marvels heroes have had a chance to shine on the big screen. But what if an unexpected enemy appeared, threatening global safety in a way that no one of them could stop? That’s when Nick Fury of SHIELD must bring together a whole collection of super heroes – assemble them, if you will. Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow team with Nick Fury to form Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers! Set to hit the big screen on May 4th, 2012, the film has already been teased over and over in bonus segments following the original hero films, like Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger. Now, Walt Disney Pictures is ready to hype the future blockbuster even further, with the first official teaser trailer. Check it out right here, and let us know what you think!

After all the waiting, all the hoping, and all the sitting-patiently, Marvel’s Spider-Woman: Agent of S.W.O.R.D. is finally available on DVD. And what is our reward for waiting so long? A Skrull invasion courtesy of Shout! Factory and Marvel Knights Animation. Wait, what?! Boo! Looks like Skrull Queen Verank is causing a bit of an issue for our girl Jessica Drew. So, with a little help from other Marvel heroes like the Avengers and Spider-Man, it’s time for Spider-Woman to make her return to earth! With just two weeks to go before Marvel releases their latest comic book to DVD adventure, Spider-Woman: The Agent of S.W.O.R.D., we’re finally getting a look at the box art to be used for the collection. The story will follow Jessica Drew’s battle with an invasion of Skrulls, as well as her interaction with a number of other iconic characters through out the Marvel Universe, including the Avengers, Wolverine, Captain America, and her namesake, Spider-Man. When the DVD drops on June 14th, we’ll be able to dig through the motion comic workings of Shout! Factory and Marvel Knights Animation. Just your friendly neighborhood Spider… woman? This June, Marvel is bringing another comic book icon to the world of DVD, with Spider-Woman: The Agent of S.W.O.R.D. Working alongside with Shout! Factory, Marvel Knights Animation will bring Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, home, featuring a story by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev. In addition to the main tale, the disc will include a visual history of Spider-Woman, exclusive Music Videos, and various trailers to other Marvel and Disney projects. So what will happen with Queen Veranke and Skrull invasion? Head to your DVD store June 14th to find out!

On June 14th, Marvel Knights Animation will team with Shout! Factory to present the story of Spider-Woman. This brand new comic-to-DVD release, created in the same fashion as Astonishing X-Men, Iron Man: Extremis, and Black Panther, tells the story of when Jessica Drew is approached by Abigail Brand, a mysterious agent of S.W.O.R.D.. It is then that Jessica finds that the urge within herself to inflict vengeance upon the Skrulls is too overwhelming to deny. Now, it’s time for Spider-Woman to find her replacement, the Skrull Queen Veranke, and prevent another Skrull invasion. This tale, created by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, features guest appearances by Spider-Man, the Avengers, Wolverine, Black Widow, Captain America and Ms. Marvel.

Paramount and Marvel are making super hero fans in the United States very happy this weekend! After already running wild for a week in locations around the globe, Iron Man 2 is now in theaters across America. The Disney-owned Marvel flick already pulled in about $140 million dollars in foreign locations, now people are expecting big things at home. Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark, the wealthy playboy whose exploits as Iron Man are now public knowledge after his admission in the first film. Now, Stark is pitted against his Russian arch nemesis, Whiplash (Mickey Rourke), and corporate rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell). Also making their Marvel debuts are Scarlett Johansson as Russian spy Black Widow, and Don Cheadle, who takes over the role of Colonel James Rhodes from Terrence Howard. Who is seeing it this weekend?
