Wild Kratts’ Worldwide Popularity Goes Beyond Cartoons


Kratt Brothers Company and 9 Story Media Group have recently announced several new exciting developments regarding the show Wild Kratts, which is a wildlife-oriented edutainment cartoon based on the exploits of the real life zoologist brothers. The show has recently gained the no. 1 spot with kids aged 4 to 8 and 6 to 11 across several networks, including its debut channel PBS.

New Teen Titans Go! Clip: Books


Warner Bros. Animation has just released a brand-spanking new non-exclusive clip for the next episode of Teen Titans Go!, titled “Books.” The episode will air this coming Wednesday, October 2, at 7:30 PM on Cartoon Network.

The episode deals with a subject near and dear to every kid’s heart: The Limitless Power of One’s Imagination, as the Titans discover the joys of reading. However, the wonder soon turns into a nightmare as they come across a book that brings their thoughts to life – and we all know just how deadly their imaginations can be. Their enjoyable reading session soon turns into the team fighting for their life against their very own imaginations.

Guru Expands Publishing Platform with New Justin Time Book


Guru Studio and its partner Immedium have recently announced the release of a new Justin Time book titiled “The Big Pet Story,” marking the franchise’s second foray into the print world. The book will be distributed by Immedium through Barns & Noble (US), Chapters Indigo (Canada), Amazon, local independent bookstores throughout North America, and on their own website. The California-based publishers released the first title “The Pancake Express” in October 2012.

The Big Pet Story is based on the TV series’ pilot episode, and focuses on Justin as he imagines how fun it would be to have a pet, with his excitement over the possibility of getting a new pet transporting him to India, where he becomes the proud new owner of an oddly large Pink elephant. He and friends Olive and Squidgy soon discover that having a pet may be fun, but it also involves a whole lot of peanuts, exercise and good old fashioned work!

Almost Naked Animals Gets a Publishing Deal

Lisle International has recently signed a new publishing deal with Hachette Children’s Books for 9 story Entertainment’s hit animated comedy series Almost Naked Animals. Under the publishing deal, Hachette’s sub division Hodder Children’s Books will be developing a full publishing program outside of magazines for the UK and CommonWealth territories outside of Canada.

The Pirates! Band of Misfits set sail for Aardman

Seems like there’s a lot of pirating going on. Rango’s Johnny Depp is returning as Captain Jack Sparrow in a few weeks. Jake and the Neverland Pirates are ruling over Disney’s new Disney Jr. network. Monkey D. Luffy and crew are still hunting One Piece. And now Aardman Animation is working with Pathe and Sony Pictures Animation on a new animated tale, The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The 3D, stop-motion film is based on Gideon Defoe’s series of The Pirates! books, about a Pirate Captain and his loyal crew fighting for the Pirate of the Year Award. The movie will follow the same quest, encountering Queen Victoria, Charles Darwin, Black Bellamy, Cutlass Liz, and others along the way. Hugh Grant recently joined the cast of the Columbia Pictures story, set to debut March 30th, 2012, meeting up with other stars lending their voice; Martin Freeman, David Tennant, Imelda Staunton, Jeremy Piven, Salma Hayek, Brian Blessed, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, Ashley Jenson, and more.

Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps dances with Super RTL

Hit Entertainment and Super RTL have been busy over the past few months! Just recently the pair has announced the joint venture channel (a mixture of Disney and RTL) will own the rights to air over 80 episodes of the CG animated series Angelina Ballerina: The Next Steps. The toon will make its debut in a few months, working with Bob the Builder and Tomas & Friends in the Toggolino program block. Created by Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig, Angelina Ballerina first appeared in a line of children’s books before making the move (dancing the steps?) to animation. With 20 books and nearly 100 episodes under her tutu, there doesn’t appear to be any stopping her!

Wizard Hat Productions heads to Grim Hill

Linda DeMeulemeester probably never had an animated series in mind when she wrote her first Grim Hill book. But once the first was deemed a success, and a sequel met with a similar reaction, the train kept rolling! Now, with 5 titles in the franchise, Wizard Hat Productions wanted to jump in to ready a CG animated series based on the adventures. The tale mixes Celtic myths with faerie lore, with Cat, Sookie, Jasper, and Clive live their regular teenage lives while fighting powerful, mythical creatures. Wizard Hat has been crafting the look of the series with guidance from Pam Slavin, Toni Stevens, and Bill Fox, who formally worked at Cookie Jar Entertainment.

He’ll wear rubber gloves, use air freshener, avoid anything with teeth, and still, Scaredy is terrified of everything he encounters. First published in 2006, the Scaredy Squirrel book series is written and illustrated by Mélanie Watt via Kids Can Press. Now, the fearful rodent is teaming with Nelvana to bring the books to animated form in a new cartoon series. Of the four existing books (Scaredy Squirrel, Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend, Scaredy Squirrel at the Beach, and Scaredy Squirrel at Night) each depicts Scaredy being afraid of at least 5 things — who knows how many things will terrify him in the toon!!
