Comedy Central’s Comic-Con Line-Up Announced

Comedy Central has just sent out a Press Release announcing their line-up of awesome events for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con. Their itinerary will include a lot of high profile Comedy Central shows, such as panels for Workaholics (Thursday, July 19 from 2 to 3 PM), Ubisoft’s South Park: The Stick of Truth videogame (Thursday, July 18 from 6 to 7 pm), Brickleberry (Friday, July 19 from 6 to 7 PM), and Futurama (Saturday, July 20 from 12 to 12:45 pm).

On Thursday, July 18 Workaholics will be holding press interviews from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Hilton Bayfront in Indigo 202A and an autograph signing from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Convention Center at the Sails Pavilion at table AA04. The partying will continue on July 20, as Comedy Central will be taping an original 1 hour stand up special with Patton Oswalt at Spreckels Theatre located at 121 Broadway in downtown San Diego. Tickets to the 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. tapings are available at www.spreckelstheatre.net.

New Final Season Clip for Futurama

It can be a bittersweet moment for a lot of Futurama fans, but Matt Groening’s long-running and multi award-winning sci-fi comedy toon will be waving goodbye soon, and in order to tease fans, Comedy Central has just released a new preview clip that features Amy, who is disguised as a marmoset while being subjected to the advances of a baboon businessman.

Futurama's Final Chapter Airs This Summer

This summer, Comedy Central will be airing the (second) final chapter of Matt Groening’s popular sci-fi animated comedy, Futurama. The current 13 episode run will bring the entire show to a total of 140 episodes. The series will be showing back-to-back episodes on CC on June 19, 10PM ET/PT, with the series finale penciled in for September 4. Special guest stars for the farewell season include Larry Bird, Dan Castellaneta, Sarah Silverman, George Takei, Adam West and Burt Ward. The show’s entire original voice cast will be returning.

“I’m very proud of the upcoming season. If this is indeed the end of Futurama, it’s a fantastic finish to a good, long run,” said creator and EP Groening in a statement.

Two New Projects from Bent Image Lab

Bent Image Lab has just released two new stop motion shorts for Comedy Central’s Kroll Show and for Arrowhead. The first is titled “Demo Monster,” which mixes Bent Image Lab’s stop motion animation techniques with live action, in order to bring to life the titular monster, which is a machine that combines all of the network’s target viewers into a single creature able to represent 18 to 35 year old males. The creature’s main purpose is to replace market testing and focus groups.

Comedy Central Launches TripTank

Comedy Central has recently given the greenlight to a new weekly animated half-hour animated series called TripTank, which is scheduled to launch next fall. The series is an anthology of comedy shorts presented in different animation styles, such as CGI, stop motion, 2D, flash, and others. Each episode will feature stand alone pieces and recurring themes. The format of the show seems to bear a striking similarity to MTV’s LiquidTV (which has recently managed to stage a comeback and started venturing into the digital world).

Time flies when you’re having fun. It seemed like it was just yesterday when we were posting about Futurama’s return to Comedy Central, but now we’re at the season ender. Fortunately, Futurama has seen fit to give us a very special way of ending the current season, by providing two back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, August 28 at 10 PM (9pm central), with the first episode featuring the voice of Captain Picard/Professor X himself, Patrick Stewart.

During a live post-show streamed on Comedy Central’s official site yesterday, Futurama series creator Matt Groening has announced the launch of their latest Futurama “Head-in-a-jar Creator” app for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android mobile devices. The free app is designed to provide what its name promises, the ability to create a Head-in-a-Jar using designs, assets, and custom parts based on the hit animated comedy series.

DirecTV drops Nickelodeon, 14 other channels

If you turned on your TV this morning and saw that Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, BET, MTV, Nicktoons was gone, then you are not alone. Late Tuesday night Viacom pulled off Nickelodeon and 14 other channels from the 20 Million or so DirecTV subscribers. DirecTV subscribers lost 14+ channels owned by Viacom in a dispute to pay the channels DirecTV was brodcasting.  Viacom sent letters to DirecTV on Tuesday ordering them to remove the channels by midnight or face legal action.

More Details About Futurama's 7th Season Surface

Comedy Central has recently revealed additional details about the upcoming 7th season of the Emmy Award-winning sci fi comedy series Futurama. Matt Groening and David X. Cohen’s hit animated series will kick off on Comedy Central with two new back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, June 20, at 10 PM ET/PT. The total number of episodes that fans can expect will be 13 new half hour episodes, all chock full of awesome guest stars and hilarious story arcs.
