Johnny Test returns to Cartoon Network June 13

Johnny Test returns to Cartoon Network June 13

His sisters are 13; twin geniuses, both. He is younger, and thus always the guinea pig to their tests. Often willingly. The result? An awesome cartoon. The twin sisters Susan and Mary, and the boy, like the series, is named Johnny Test. Premiering back in 2005 on the Kids WB, Johnny Test will be entering his fifth season in a few weeks on Cartoon Network, June 13th. Sure, the math doesn’t necessarily add up, but when you’re getting good animation, it’s not really that important! A joint venture between Teletoon Productions and Cookie Jar Entertainment, Johnny Test will join Cartoon Network’s Monday night animated comedy lineup, which includes The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, MAD, and Regular Show. Great company; great toons. Johnny will fit right in!

Viper Comics revives DIC and Cookie Jar Entertainment's Inspector Gadget

He may be on the clumsy side, but let’s not forget Inspector Gadget is one of law enforcement’s top agents! A cyborg detective whose bionic gadgets have helped keep Dr. Claw and the agents of M.A.D. at bay for years now. Originally animated by DIC Entertainment (now Cookie Jar Entertainment), the classic 1980s toon had all of the love and appeal of the 1960s series Get Smart, including the main voice actor Don Adams. Now, Viper Comics is bringing him back to continue fighting the good fight in a brand new comic book series. Penny and Brain are back as well… but so is MAD! Get ready to Go-Go-Gadget this summer!

Wizard Hat Productions heads to Grim Hill

Wizard Hat Productions heads to Grim Hill

Linda DeMeulemeester probably never had an animated series in mind when she wrote her first Grim Hill book. But once the first was deemed a success, and a sequel met with a similar reaction, the train kept rolling! Now, with 5 titles in the franchise, Wizard Hat Productions wanted to jump in to ready a CG animated series based on the adventures. The tale mixes Celtic myths with faerie lore, with Cat, Sookie, Jasper, and Clive live their regular teenage lives while fighting powerful, mythical creatures. Wizard Hat has been crafting the look of the series with guidance from Pam Slavin, Toni Stevens, and Bill Fox, who formally worked at Cookie Jar Entertainment.

Inspector Gadget, Johnny Test, and Metajets to Netflix

Sunwoo and Cookie Jar’s Kung Fu Dino Posse to debut on CiTV

Sunwoo and Cookie Jar's Kung Fu Dino Posse to debut on CiTV

Skor has thawed out. And, of course, he’s evil. And mad. What do you do in situations like this? Call the Kung Fu Dino Posse, and put them to the task of stopping Skor and his bumbling brother from discovering the magical gems hidden through out the city. Sounds perfectly reasonable (and fun!) to us! The animated series has begun making a splash in a number of Asian and European areas, with the UK up next on it’s target list. Plans have already inked to bring the toon to CiTV, so fans there can watch the adventures of the four dinosaurs. Created by Peter M Lenkov, the prehistoric battle against the forces of evil picks up where it left off (ice) ages ago, and is produced by a team of powerhouses: Sunwoo Korea, Sunwoo Singapore, Optix Entertainment, and Cookie Jar Entertainment.

Arthur reaches season 14 on PBS Kids Go, October 11th

Arthur reaches season 14 on PBS Kids Go, October 11th

Fourteen seasons. I mean, really 14 seasons! When you think giants like Dora and SpongeBob and even the recently discussed Ed, Edd n’ Eddy were “only” on for 10 years or so, it makes what Arthur has done on PBS all the more astounding, as he goes for his 14th season starting Monday, October 11th. Whats even cooler, the show is still improving, bringing new concepts and new characters to the toon. This year, for example, the Cookie Jar Entertainment toon is introducing Lydia, a character created by a fan who won a contest last year. Better still, Neil Gaiman (of comic book and Coraline fame) will be writing a spoooOOoooky episode of the series, called Falafelosophy, appropriately positioned in the week of Halloween. In that toon, Gaiman, himself, makes an animated appearance, helping Sue Ellen along in her quest. Talk about breaking the fourth wall!

Cookie Jar Entertainment starts Johnny Test season 5 on Teletoon and Cartoon Network

Cookie Jar Entertainment starts Johnny Test season 5 on Teletoon and Cartoon Network

Johnny Test will be kicking off his fifth season later this week on Teletoon, and shortly there after on Cartoon Network. 5 seasons! When the year is all said and done, Johnny Test, Scott Fellows’ creation, will be zoning in at nearly 100 episodes, putting the toon in rarefied company. And, really, it’s easy to see them following the simplified formula: get a boy with two super genius scientist twin sisters, oh and a genetically engineered talking dog, and boom, you’ve got yourself a winner! They don’t even have to be named Johnny, Susan, Mary, and Dukey. Well, OK, maybe they should. They don’t have to be. Regardless, the Cookie Jar Entertainment series might feature stories where Johnny is the guinea pig, but the viewers clearly don’t mind “test”ing new episodes!

Inspector Gadget and Johnny Test to Viper Comics

Inspector Gadget and Johnny Test to Viper Comics

Typically, as seen with specials like Wolverine and the X-Men, it’s the other way around – comics becoming cartoons. But now, two generations worth of toons are now headed into the media of comic books; Inspector Gadget and Johnny Test are making the full transition from animation to the printed page, as Viper Comics signs the two properties to comic book deals. Inspector Gadget, DIC Entertainment’s (now Cookie Jar Entertainment’s) classic 80s toon, features a cyborg detective, whose human body stores multiple bionic gadgets — somewhat like an early Generator Rex! Johnny Test, on the other (non-bionic) hand, follows the adventures of Johnny and his brilliant twin sisters Susan and Mary. Fans can expect a graphic novel collection of each to hit store shelves in early 2011, along side a field dominated by Spider-Man, Batman, Superman, and other Marvel and DC super heroes.
