Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball Z Kai Coming to Toonami

For an anime that many people dismiss as shallow and filler-heavy, Dragon Ball Z is still in demand and continues to put butts in seats, whether it’s a new video game or a new movie, or even a re-airing of an old special. The most recent one was the movie Cooler’s Revenge, which recently aired on Cartoon Network’s Toonami programming block. During that airing, FUNimation has also announced that the polished and streamlined version of the series – Dragon Ball Z Kai – will be added to Toonami starting this fall.

What’s more, another iconic anime series (and one that is more universally lauded), Cowboy Bebop, will also be returning to the programming block. However, the schedule for Spike and the gang’s return has not been announced yet. You can check out the tweets below for the official announcements:

5 Unexpectedly OP Side Characters in Anime

When it comes to anime, particularly mainstream shonen ones, it’s pretty much a given that the main character will become overpowered at some point. Increasing the protagonist’s power beyond everyone else’s is a workable, easy way of showing progress and resolving conflicts. Villains, especially main ones, need to be overpowered for obvious reasons. However, there are times when a side-character on the protagonist’s side ends up being overpowered as well, in some ways surpassing the main character. Here are the top 5 on my list:

New Trailer for Michiko & Hatchin English Dub

A new trailer has just been released online for the 2008 spiritual successor to Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo, titled Michiko and Hatchin. Of course, it’s in English and will be released via DVD/Blu Ray combo pack in September. The series is directed by Sayo Yamamoto (Lupin III: A Woman Named Fujiko) and scored by Shinichiro Watanabe.
