Dinosaur Train Gets New International Deals

The Jim Henson Company’s multi-award winning animated children’s series Dinosaur Train continues to build momentum across Europe, while riding high on several new international deals related to consumer products, TV, Home Entertainment, and Digital licensing. The Announcement was made today by EVP of Global Distribution for The Jim Henson Company, Richard goldsmith:

“Europe continues to be a brisk and enthusiastic market for the DINOSAUR TRAIN brand, as more broadcasters, content distributors and consumer licensing partners get on board the DINOSAUR TRAIN,” remarked Goldsmith. “By leveraging our young audience’s innate attraction to all things dinosaur and any vehicle that travels down a track, Buddy and his friends make exploring the natural world fun and exciting. And when you can engage the kids, you earn the attention, interest and support of parents, broadcasters and licensing partners.”

Germany’s pay-TV Disney Channel will be transitioning into a free to air channel on January 1, 2014, with the 24-hour family channel taking over the transmission slots that are currently occupied by entertainment Das Vierte, which Disney has acquired last autumn 2012.

The Disney Channel’s all-new programming schedule will also include the Emmy-nominated live-action/animated series from The Jim Henson Company, Dinosaur Train, where kids aged three to six are taught how to apply scientific thinking as they discover all new types of dinosaur species, and compare and contrast dinosaurs to today’s creatures and embrace the living sciences of paleontology and natural science.

Riding high on the success of Dinosaur Train all over the globe, particularly in Europe, The Jim Henson Company continues to secure all sorts of new deals applying to International television, digital and consumer products, and home entertainment licensing rights for the multi award-winning kids’ series.

Dinosaur Train focuses on a curious young Tyrannosaurus Rex named Buddy and his adopted Pteranodon family. Together, they board the Dinosaur Train in order to meet other kinds of dinosaurs and go on adventures together.

Emmy-nominated animated children’s series Dinosaur Train will be introducing two new characters in new episodes that will be airing starting on Monday,December 10, on PBS Kids (check local listings for date and time).

The new characters will be Grandma and Grandpa Pteranodon, whom the kids will meet for the first time during the first two episodes of the week. The grandparents and their dino grandchildren will be exploring their heritage while creating new adventures. Along the way, they’ll be visiting the grandparents’ cliff side nest and look at Dad’s childhood nature collection. The episodes will see them come face to face with a crabby crocodile, an egg stealing mystery, and a night time meteor shower that concludes with a treasure hunt for amber.

The Jim Henson Company and Amtrak have teamed together in order to present a fun summertime promotion based on Henson’s hit PBS Kids property Dinosaur Train, in which one lucky family will be given an Amtrak vacation. The event, dubbed the Big Big Dinosaur Sweepstakes, was announced by JHC SVP of Global Consumer Products Melissa Segal.

On August 22nd, catch a train to Dinosaur Big City – a Dinosaur Train! The Jim Henson Company series is ready to debut a one-hour made-for-TV movie based on the Dinosaur Train series, giving all your favorite CG dinos some extra room to roar! The special hits PBS Kids, also helping to usher in Dinosaur Train season two. Other stops along the way during the year are Big Dinosaur Week, and Dinosaurs A to Z, with the Dinosaur Big City movie working to DVD shortly after, courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment.
