Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars to Premiere in July

This coming July 26, Saturday, at 9:00 – 10:00 pm ET/PT on the Disney Channel, Phineas, Ferb, and the rest of the gang will be meeting Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D, and other iconic star wars characters in the brand new television special titled “Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars.”

Avid Star Wars fans and “Phineas and Ferb” creators/executive producers, Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh make cameos as themselves in the animated special.

Disney Starts Production on The Lion Guard

Disney Television Animation has just started production on a new animated TV movie and series titled The Lion Guard, which aims to continue the story of Disney’s 1994 Oscar-winning animated feature The Lion King. The series will be targeted towards kids aged 2 to 7 and their families. The TV movie is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2015, while the series will debut in early 2016 on Disney Junior and the Disney Channel.

Disney Junior to Launch First Original Movie: Lucky Duck

This coming June, Disney Junior and the Disney Channel will be premiering the first ever Disney Junior Original Movie, Lucky Duck. The movie will air on Friday, June 20 at 7 pm ET/PT on Disney Junior and on Saturday, June 21 at 9 am ET/PT on the Disney Channel. Lucky Duck will also be available on the WATCH Disney Junior app and website for verified users starting on Friday, June 6.

Lucky Duck is targeted towards kids aged 2 to 7 and focuses on the seafaring adventures of three misfit tub toys, all of whom are in search of kids who will love them just the way they are. The movie boasts of an impressive voice cast that includes Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, and Tom Cavanagh, among others.

Germany’s pay-TV Disney Channel will be transitioning into a free to air channel on January 1, 2014, with the 24-hour family channel taking over the transmission slots that are currently occupied by entertainment Das Vierte, which Disney has acquired last autumn 2012.

The Disney Channel’s all-new programming schedule will also include the Emmy-nominated live-action/animated series from The Jim Henson Company, Dinosaur Train, where kids aged three to six are taught how to apply scientific thinking as they discover all new types of dinosaur species, and compare and contrast dinosaurs to today’s creatures and embrace the living sciences of paleontology and natural science.

The next Phineas and Ferb DVD release is coming to stores this Tuesday, February 26, 2013. It’s called Phineas and Ferb: Animal Agents, and as you can guess from the name, it features episodes where animals other than a famous green platypus are foiling the evil plots of their villain counterparts. This DVD includes the special 2-part episode, Where’s Perry?

This coming April 13 to 15, the Disney Channel will present a special Whodunit Weekend, in which two nights of mystery-centric episodes of its various shows. The first leg of the special will premiere on Friday, April 13 at 8pm, with a new whodunit episode of Jessie, followed by a whodunit episode of A.N.T. Farm, and capped by a mystery-themed episode of Fish Hooks.

Disney’s 24 hour basic cable/satellite channel targeted towards kids age 2-7, Disney Junior, will launch on Friday, March 23 at midnight in the US, as per the announcement made yesterday at the TV Critics Assoc. Press Tour in Pasadena, Calif. Originally introduced as a daily programming block on the Disney Channel last February 2010, Disney Junior became so popular with kids 2-5 that Disney has seen it fit to turn it into a dedicated channel.

But one such cartoon seems to have really hit a high note in popularity over the past few months, and now we’re even more enthused with the Disney lineup; Fish Hooks is back to the Disney Channel on November 4th with an all new collection of shows. Popular Disney Channel show “Phineas and Ferb” are getting a big screen revamp. The TV series is expected to take the leap and move onto the big screen after show Co-Creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff Marsh inked new deals to produce further TV episodes as well as a Movie. Under the terms of the new contract they will also develop a New Pilot for Disney, which is likely to be a spin-off of the comedy. The new deal follows hot on the heals of the TV movie ” Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension” which drew in 7.6million viewers.

Lucky Fred just got… well, lucky. In an enhanced effort to bring the brand new toon to the Disney Channel across the globe (in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, India, and Australia) producers at Oasis Animation and Toon Boom Animation have added 70 new jobs, doubling their workforce, and all dedicated to readying the show. Co produced by Imira Entertainment, the series follows the adventures of a young boy and his intergalactic robot, which is able to change into anything Fred desires. The bot’s formal title, a Reality Enhancement Drone, explains one of the reasons Fred is always so lucky. Originally conceived of by Myriam Ballesteros, 13-year-old Fred and R.E.D. (Lucky RED?) are an unlikely pair of best friends, who use decision making, planning, and a great imagination on their daily adventures.
