Square Enix Reveals Free Dragon Quest Heroes DLC

DLC is pretty much a controversial concept, in the sense that a huge number of gamers pretty much frown on the practice (especially on-disc/locked content DLC for games that feel incomplete without them), but one thing that absolutely no one will frown upon is FREE DLC, which is exactly what Square Enix will be releasing next week for Dragon Quest Heroes on the PS3 and PS4.

The DLC floodgates open on March 5 with an Arena Battle and an Alena/Kiryl sub-story. Completing said battle will give players access to Alena’s original Dragon Quest IV costume, while completing ths sub-story unlocks a number of different costumes for both Alena and Kiryl.

The free DLC continues on March 12 with a Demon Swordsman Battle and a Jessica/Yangus sub-story. Clearing the former unlocks a Psaro playable ally while clearing the latter unlocks new costumers for Jessica and Yangus.

Link Joins Mario Kart 8 as DLC Character

If you’re a frequent visitor of Toonbarn, you may have noticed that we regularly post entries about the Legend of Zelda franchise. Every chance we get. It’s because several of Toonbarn’s contributors are fans of the games and the fact that it had an animated TV series (no matter how crappy it was), gives us an excuse to write about Link without straying too far away from the site’s focus.

Dragonball Z: Battle of Z to Get Super Vegeta and Super Saiyan Bardock DLCs

Bardock-Super-Saiyan

We’re only a few days away from the release of the latest 3D fighter based on Akira Toriyama’s iconic manga/anime franchise, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z. And while we’ve already marked the game as a day 1 purchase, NAMCO BANDAI has decided to tease us further by planning a couple of DLC characters: Super Vegeta and Super Saiyan Bardock.

Everybody who’s a fan of the series and has watched all the way to the end of the Cell Saga already knows Super Vegeta – it’s Vegeta’s transformation after the first stage of Super Saiyan. It’s basically his less refined version of Super Saiyan 2 (it gives him a large boost but slows him down and makes his body bulkier, though not on the same disastrous level as Trunks’ Ultimate Super Saiyan form.)

Super Saiyan Bardock, on the other hand, is a fairly new addition to the franchise. Bardock himself has been introduced before in one of the old movie specials as Goku’s biological father. The movie set Bardock’s fate as having been killed by Freeza during the end of Planet Vegeta. But it was only recently – during a special manga – that his real fate was revealed: he was sent back in time and managed to learn to transform into a Super Saiyan while fighting Freeza’s ancestor, Chilled, thereby fueling the stories of a Super Saiyan along with Freeza’s fear of the golden haired warrior.

Injustice: Gods Among Us Officially Reveals Batgirl as DLC Character

Injustice: Gods Among Us Officially Reveals Batgirl as DLC Character

Some astute fans were able to break out the news early that NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice: Gods Among Us will have Batgirl as the next character, thanks in part to a mixup that resulted in the DLC info being listed early. The listing was culled immediately, but it was too late as fans have already spread the rumors. By this point, NetherRealm has no choice but to confirm the DLC (since canceling the DLC will actually make them look bad).

Anyway – no harm done, right? Everybody loves Batgirl. And while not everybody loves DLCs, we can make do with a Batgirl DLC. You can check out the promo video below, which contains a little bit of character history along with gameplay footage:

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Gets School Uniform DLC

Logo-600x300

By now, everybody who managed to snag a copy of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 has already had a chance to play with its staggering amount of characters (80 in total), so it’s understandable if people are getting tired of how they look. With that in mind, a new set of DLC costumes has been released for the game, this time featuring Ninja Academy school uniforms for Naruto, Ino, Kakashi, Hinata, and Sasuke.
