New Image of Karen Gillan as Nebula

Guardians of the Galaxy’s director James Gunn has recently posted a new image from the film, this time around giving a spotlight to uber-babe (and former Doctor Who star) Karen Gillan.

Gillan will be playing the role of the villainous Nebula, and will be sporting a shaven head and blue skin. Gunn captioned the image with a foreboding description of Nebula as “our interplanetary Clint Eastwood”, which points to a portrayal that’s a far cry from her Amy Pond days:

New Rocky & Bullwinkle Comics to be Published by IDW

New Rocky & Bullwinkle Comics to be Published by IDW

San Diego-based publishing outfit IDW Publishing is already known for successfully adapting popular TV and movie franchises into comic book form, with best selling titles based on small screen juggernauts like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and Doctor Who. Over the past weekend, word got out that IDW is preparing to add yet another recognizable TV franchise into their library of comic book titles, this time it’s Jay Ward’s beloved comedic duo Rocky and Bullwinkle.

The new Rocky & Bullwinkle title from IDW will feature all of the show’s regular characters, including the spies from Pottsylvania, Badenov and Natasha Fatal, as well as Dudley Do-Right and his time-traveling dog companion Mr. Peabody, both of which are going to have their own CG-animated feature via DreamWorks and director Rob Minkoff.

The Mill’s TV VFX Department Closes

It seems like the recent economic downturn has hit the animation industry the worst, as news of studios closing down or downsizing have become very common these past few months, and even big studios like DreamWorks have had to take losses and lay off employees in order to remain healthy. The most recent studio to suffer from financial issues is The Mill, which is popular for the effects work they have done for various BBC shows like Doctor Who, Merlin, and Sherlock.

The Mill has reportedly posted some financial losses in 2012 and the first quarter of this year, and as a result, the London-based studio has decided to close its TV visual effects unit, which could result in 25 employees being let go.

Targeted towards kids aged 4 to 6, Tree Fu Tom uses heroic, fantasy, and action story elements along with unique interactive physical activity devised and approved by movement development specialists, which will help assist in the motor skills development of children.
