New Trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods Extended Edition DVD/Blu-Ray

This coming October 7th, FUNimation will be releasing the first new Dragon Ball anime film in over 17 years, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, in a DVD/Blu-Ray set that features both the uncut and theatrical versions that make up an Extended Edition set. Pre-orders are now available, and FUNimation wants to remind people to get their copies earlier than most via an English-dubbed trailer:

College Humor Imagines Miyazaki Films in the Style of Other Anime

When it comes to anime films, Studio Ghibli’s reputation is sterling – fans don’t really find much to complain about as far as quality is concerned, both in terms of narrative and aesthetics. However, College Humor’s recent video shows that there might be some wiggle room for changes, as they reimagine some of Hayao Miyazaki’s iconic films in the style of other anime.

The films being parodied include My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Ponyo, among others taking on the style and tone of other anime such as Pokemon, Dragonball Z, and even Voltron. You can watch the video below to see what all the fuss is about:

Toei Outlines Plans for Dragonball Z, One Piece, and Saint Seiya Films

Japanese entertainment Powerhouse Toei Animation has recently announced plans to release a new Dragon Ball Z movie in March next year. The new Dragon Ball Z movie is directed by Masahiro Hosoda, with the script written by Yusuke Watanabe instead of series creator Akira Toriyama. Toei originally adapted the Dragon ball Z property into a TV series back in 1986, where it became a huge phenomenon not just in Japan, but in other countries as well.

CW To Air WWE Show and Dragonball Z with Vortexx

The CW Network will be airing a new Saturday morning kids programming block called the Vortexx starting on August 25, at 7 AM. The block will contain an odd – yet highly entertaining – assortment of old and new kid-oriented shows that include Dragonball Z, and the WWE’s Saturday Morning Slam.

The WWE’s Saturday Morning Slam certainly brings to mind the classic 80s approach of the promotion, which catered a lot to kids using storylines, characters, and timeslots that are more kid-friendly.

Toonami Releases New Lineup

The Anime News Network has recently revealed the lineup that will herald the much-awaited return of Adult Swim’s Toonami block on Sunday, May 27. The newer additions include DeadMan Wonderland and Casshern Sins.

DeadMan Wonderland is the anime adaptation of Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondon’s manga, which aired between April and July of 2011 in Japan. The show is currently licensed for US Distribution by Funimation.
