Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens! Premieres this March on CN

Ben 10 fans are in for a treat this march, as Cartoon Network has picked the days between March 09 and March 24 to be the international premiere of a new CG animated Ben 10 movie entitled Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens!

Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens follows the young Ben Tennyson as he joins an intergalactic weekend camp called the Total Alien Immersion training program, which he found to be disappointing, especially when the program had him sent back to Earth struck in his alien forms. This wouldn’t be a problem if he only had to worry about his job protecting earth from evil aliens, but it turns out that an evil Mechamorph Warrior called “Retaliator” is hunting and planning to take Ben down, after mistaking him for another evil alien.

Thankfully, information from the San Diego Comic Con, and more recently the New York Comic Con, have been much more forthcoming, particularly noting the tagline: there’s more than one way to go hero.

Ben 10 and Generator Rex: Heroes United coming to Cartoon Network

Ben 10 and Generator Rex: Heroes United coming to Cartoon Network

A few months back, ToonBarn ran a story about the potential crossover of the Ben 10 universe with the newly created Generator Rex universe. Seeing as how both are iconic heroes on Cartoon Network, and both have ties to Man of Action Studios, it made perfect sense — at least for the April Fools joke that we ran it as, Generator Rex: Ultimate Alien: . A good chunk of our readers were fooled by the fake story, but a good number of others couldn’t wait for such a thing to actually happen. …and now, it appears it will. At Comic Con 2011, Cartoon Network announced a crossover special event that sounds exactly like the one we faked, but this time it’s for real! Ben 10 and Generator Rex will team up in a special one-shot called Ben 10 / Generator Rex: Heroes United. Confusing Ben in Humungousaur form as an E.V.O., Generator Rex decides to take the fight to Ben – only to discover they’re on the same side. Further details on the special are scarce right now, but we’ll get you the latest right here soon – stay TOONed!!

Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens brings CG Ben 10 to Cartoon Network

During the heydays of this year’s Comic-Con 2011, we scoured a lot of great info about the upcoming world of animation. Amongst the biggest revelations was Cartoon Network’s latest Ben 10 adventure; Ben 10: Destroy All Aliens, an entirely CG rendered made for TV movie. Still somewhat early in development, the CN promises this computer animated cartoon will be ready for our TV-watching enjoyment next year. Perhaps most surprising, and maybe even a little exciting, is the decision to go before Ben 10: Ultimate Alien and Ben 10: Alien Force, and create a “prequel” of sorts during the original Ben 10 era; Ben, Gwen, and Grandpa Max solving cases with the original Omnitrix, just like the old days — and complete with all the original voice cast! Check out these teaser screen shots of the project in motion.

Cartoon Network has some big ideas! So, let’s say you have two of the most popular action franchises of all time, what do you do? On the one hand, there’s Ben 10. He’s had an incredible string of success in the original series, the sequel series Ben 10: Alien Force, and now the third Ben 10: Ultimate Alien. On the other hand, there’s a new series from the same Man of Action creation team, Generator Rex, that has cultivated a whole new, large audience. Apparently, the CN thinks they’re both so successful, they’re going to create a new spin-off with the two concepts merged! Thus, we have the new series Generator Rex: Ultimate Alien. Set to debut April 1st of next year (April 1, 2012) the series will follow Rex’s adventure with an Omnitrix of his own. Will the alien transformation abilities clash with Rex’s own nanotech? Will Ben be a good instructor, as he guides Rex on his new quests? Will Kevin clash with Agent Six? We’ll have to wait to find out!
