So much of the film has been kept under wraps since it was teased way back when, and folks at Disney and Pixar have kept their lips sealed, only recently granting us a teaser sneak peek at the artwork style and synopsis. But now, finally (FINALLY!) we get to check out the animation in motion, as the House of Mouse has put out a teaser trailer! Across the Highlands of Scotland, Merida uses her archery skills as well as royal birthright (daughter to King Fergus and Queen Elinor) to join the elite Disney Princesses – complete with her own Witch, and patented magical curse!

Disney offers a sneak peek at Tron: Uprising

Disney offers a sneak peek at Tron: Uprising

It’s been nearly three months since Tron Legacy hit theaters, racking up over $170 million dollars in the U.S. box office in that span. The sequel to 1982’s Tron, the film was a major success for Disney – so much so that the House of Mouse is not quite ready to move on from the futuristic themes! Just this week, Walt Disney Entertainment and Disney XD teamed to premiere a teaser trailer for a new upcoming animated series called Tron: Uprising, whose timeline fits somewhere between Tron and Tron: Legacy. To properly kick off the toon, Disney XD will feature a 10-part micro-series this fall, readying audiences worldwide. The toon stars Beck, whose mission is to free his friends from the likes of Clu and General Tesler; not an easy task, leading a revolution in The Grid as just a young program! But he’s not alone in his quest – in fact, he’s being trained by Tron, himself – adopting Tron’s persona as Tesler’s archenemy. Check it out!

The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made in theaters November 23rd

The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made in theaters November 23rd

Anxious for Disney to return The Muppets to the big screen? Well, apparently, so is Disney! The House of Mouse has bumped up the upcoming Muppet film a full month, from December 25th to it’s new date, November 23rd. Though Christmas day films have a history of some solid success, those of us (all of us!) so incredibly excited to see the Jim Henson characters have a lot of thanks to give for the Thanksgiving weekend special. Tentatively dubbed The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made (or even The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time) the Muppet Movie focuses on Kermit the Frog and the new co-star Walter as they put on a show to save their old theater. Hopefully, the new creative team (Jason Segel, James Bobin, Nick Stoller, and Bret McKenzie) wont offer any trouble to Miss Piggy. We’ll find out November 23, 2011!

Disney Junior will showcase Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Disney Poetry short, Mickey Mousekersize, and Special Agent Oso: Three Healthy Steps.

Waking Sleeping Beauty, Disney’s rebound to The Little Mermaid

Waking Sleeping Beauty, Disney's build to The Little Mermaid

Last week, fans were invited to learn one of the greatest Disney stories ever – not Rapunzel’s Tangled (though that was a great film!) – this time, it’s the story-behind-the-story that has us fascinated. Waking Sleeping Beauty notes Disney’s past 20 years, with The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, UP, The Princess and the Frog, etc. Mickey’s early years had just as much with Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi, etc. But the years between those two eras were often dark and disappointing for the House of Mouse. Waking Sleeping Beauty, available since November 30th, helps bridge that gap, telling the story of Disney’s rebound to a new golden age. Truly an amazing DVD – and certainly something to add to your wish lists this year!

Rapunzel stars in Disney's Tangled, in theaters today

The wait is over. Today, November 24th, the House of Mouse introduces Rapunzel to the world as the latest Disney Princess in the new film Tangled. The gorgeously rendered CG and 3D toon is opening up on roughly 4,000 screens across the U.S., ready to entice audiences with the modern take on the Brothers Grimm fairytale. Along with Flynn, Pascal and Maximus, Rapunzel’s goal is to escape Mother Gothel and the soaring tower, return to the kingdom where she once lived as a baby, and reach the festival to relish in her freedom — and miles of hair. Take a look at the trailer after the break, then get out there and buy your tickets for the big screen!!

Disney’s Tangled creates a stylized world for Rapunzel

Disney's Tangled creates a stylized world for Rapunzel

On November 24th, Disney will welcome a new Disney Princess to their collection: the first since the Princess and the Frog’s Tiana. This time, the House of Mouse is going back to the Brothers Grimm for another tale, Rapunzel, remaking the classic as Tangled. So much effort is being put into the visuals and animated style of the film, which will be the 50th animated classic from Disney. Jean-HonorĂ© Fragonard’s painting “The Swing” is being used as an inspirational point for the film, along with Disneyland’s Fantasy Land. The goal is to make the 3D and CG film play out more like a traditional, hand-drawn Disney Classic, offering “The Best of Both Worlds,” so said director Glen Keane. The trailers surely make it look like they were successful, but we’ll let you guys be the judge when you see the film!

Mother Gothel goes evil in Disney’s Tangled

Mother Gothel goes evil in Disney's Tangled

Every great story needs a great villain. Star Wars has Darth Vader, Thundercats has Mumm-Ra, Scooby-Doo has … well, hundreds of different monsters and creepy old guys in masks. In Disney’s latest film, Tangled, the House of Mouse has pitted Rapunzel and Flynn Rider against a malevolent, yet funny, villainous named Mother Gothel. Not only does she have her own magical garden, but she’s also the proud owner of a secret jail tower that measures, oh, about a mile high. Oh, and did we mention she kidnaps baby princesses to be mean to, like, forever!? If that doesn’t sound evil enough to you, and you can’t wait until the film hits theaters on November 24th, just check out this clip and pictures!

With 70ft of hair, we can only imagine how much shampoo you’d go through on a daily basis. Then there’s conditioner, gel, hair spray… and geez, just imagine the time you would have to invest in brushing it! These are just some of the challenges Rapunzel must face in her newest adventure, Tangled. The CG and 3D toon film from Disney retells the story originally created by the Brothers Grimm, twisting a number of details just as the title would indicated. The main tale stars Rapunzel, of course, and her would-be dashing hero, Flynn Rider. Though, he’s not exactly the best example of a hero, nor is she the best example of a damsel in distress. Still, they make for a lovable couple, and intriguing characters. How do we know? We just checked out these two video profiles! You should do the same now, and let us know whatcha think

The New Adventures of Peter Pan, from DQ Entertainment

The New Adventures of Peter Pan, from DQ Entertainment

Though likely most famous from Disney’s animated classic (and then Tinkerbell’s subsequent follow ups!) Peter Pan was a character long before the House of Mouse brought the film to theaters. In an effort to broaden the legend of the fabled boy who would not age, DQ Entertainment takes Peter back to London – modern day London! Traveling back and forth between the classic enemies in Neverland, Peter encounters all new adventures, along with Tinkerbell, and a new Wendy for the new generation. The 3D and CG toon, co-produced with ZDF Group, is scheduled to make it’s grand debut in the Spring of 2012. Check out the animation in action in this teaser trailer!
