Amazon Acquires Imira’s Lola & Virginia for their On-Demand Service

Retail giant Amazon has recently struck a deal with Spanish kids’ entertainment outfit Imira Entertainment for the on-demand content rights to the original series Lola & Virginia (52 x 11), under which the series will be making its way to Amazon Instant and Amazon Prime in the North American region. The deal was brokered by the series’ U.S. distributor Viva Pictures Distribution LLC.

Imira Acquires Classic Animated Specials

Leading Spanish production and distribution company Imira Entertainment has recently closed a deal that will allow them to represent two features – – El Bosque Animado (The Living Forest) (1 x 82’) and El Sueño de una noche de San Juan (Midsummer Dream) (1 x 80’) for worldwide distribution.

El Bosque Animado (The Living Forest) focuses on the story of every element of flora and fauna in the Cecebre Forest, which is a location in the historical Spanish region of Galicia. El Sueño de una noche de San Juan (Midsummer Dream), on the other hand, is based on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and features Brian Blessed as Oberon, Romola Garai as Helena, Rhys Ifans as Lysander and Fiona Shaw as the vocal talent behind the three witches.

Imira Entertainment Secures Rights to Several Accio! Toons

Spanish production house and distributor Imira Entertainment has just announced their acquisition of the distribution rights for several projects from local studio Accio! Studios, which consists of TV series as well as feature films.

Imira’s acquisitions include two films, Cher Ami and Little Big Panda, which are produced by Euroview/DDF/TV3 and Accio/Benchmark, respectively. Imira will own the rights for Cher Ami globally except for Spain, Middle East & North Africa. For Panda, the distributor will own rights for Iberia and Latin America.

For the TV series acquisitions, Imira has secured the Accio original series 10 + 2 (52 x 13) and The Big Secret, along with two 45 minute specials titled The Magical Trail and Letters and Pirates

Zumbastico and Imira Teams up For Horatio and the Plasticines

Spanish production and distribution outfit Imira Entertainment has partnered with Chilean indie studio Zumbastico Studios in order to co-develop and co-produce a new live action/stop motion preschool series titled “Horatio and the Plasticines.” The agreement will put Imira in charge of international distribution for the show, and will be representing the original 26 x 7 series as well as the new 52-episode run.

Spain’s premiere production and distribution outfit Imira Entertainment has recently made a raft of new sales that allow them to expand their reach in Latin America, way ahead of the NATPE market.

“Imira is going into NATPE 2013 with exciting momentum and a view to broaden their reach even further with their collection of premium youth programs,” says Begona Esteban, sales manager for Iberia, Latin America, US Hispanic and Central European Markets. “Spanning across both animation and live action, we are continuously seeking to build new and progressive partnerships providing engaging content.”

Spanish youth-targeted production and distribution company Imira Entertainment has just completed a number of new program sales in Asia, ahead of next month’s Asia Television forum. The new deals include Sandra, The Fairytale Detective (52×13), which has been acquired for free TV by Media Corp TV12 (Singapore) and by CH-9 Media (Malaysia); In Vietnam, Hanoi TV/Ho Chi Minh TV picks up the free TV rights to Lola & Virginia (52×12) and Sandra, The Fairytale Detective via a deal with local distributor Thaole Entertainment; Zee Learn TV Channel takes free and pay TV rights to Vitaminix (104×2) for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka; Good TV picks up cable and satellite rights to Saari (39×3) for Taiwan and the Philippines.

Spanish studio Imira Entertainment is currently enjoying a healthy sales period in Spain due to its strong library of third party content.

RTVE has acquired two shows including live action tween-skewed series Lightning Point (26 x 26+1 x 90), which is produced by BAFTA-award winner Jonathan M. Shiff in association with ZDF, Network Ten, ZDF Enterprises, Screen Australia and Screen Queensland, and Sherlock Yack: Zoo Detective (52 x13), which it has also picked up for Free TV and online. The show is produced by France’s Mondo TV with the help of TF1, ZDF and ZDF Enterprises. The show is also based on the books by Colonel Mustard and Michel Amelin, published by Editions Milan.

Oasis Animation and Toon Boom Animation ready Lucky Fred for Disney

Lucky Fred just got… well, lucky. In an enhanced effort to bring the brand new toon to the Disney Channel across the globe (in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, India, and Australia) producers at Oasis Animation and Toon Boom Animation have added 70 new jobs, doubling their workforce, and all dedicated to readying the show. Co produced by Imira Entertainment, the series follows the adventures of a young boy and his intergalactic robot, which is able to change into anything Fred desires. The bot’s formal title, a Reality Enhancement Drone, explains one of the reasons Fred is always so lucky. Originally conceived of by Myriam Ballesteros, 13-year-old Fred and R.E.D. (Lucky RED?) are an unlikely pair of best friends, who use decision making, planning, and a great imagination on their daily adventures.
