Nickelodeon Debuts It’s a SpongeBob Christmas Tonight

Nickelodeon will be celebrating the holidays tonight via their first full-length stop-motion animated special, It’s a SpongeBob Christmas!, which will air at 8:00 PM ET/PT. The special will use animation techniques inspired by the classic Rankin/Bass specials (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town) and will feature the voice of John Goodman as Santa Claus.

Nickelodeon has just teamed up with The Children’s Place in order to celebrate the holidays with a brand new, limited edition t-shirt inspired by the half-hour stop motion Christmas special It’s a SpongeBob Christmas!, which airs on Nickelodeon on Dec. 6 at 8 PM. The new line will consist of long-sleeve cotton t-shirts that will retail in more than 900 The Children’s Place retail stores all over the country from Nov 27 to Dec 3, with the shirts’ price starting at $10.

As preparation for the holidays, Nickelodeon and Sony Music Entertainment have released It’s a Spongebob Christmas! Album exclusively on digital. The brand new full length album will feature 11 tracks of original holiday themed music, with four of them being featured on the upcoming SpongeBob Squarepants special “It’s a SpongeBob Christmas”, such as Santa Has His Eyes on Me, and the timeless Bikini Bottom classic, “Don’t Be a Jerk (It’s Christmas)”, along with seven brand new songs co-written by Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob), and Andy Paley (Blondie, Brian Wilson, The Ramones).

Nickelodeon’s First Full Length Stop-Motion Special: It’s a Spongebob Christmas

Nickelodeon celebrates the holidays with its first ever full length stop motion animated special, It’s a Spongebob Christmas!, which will premiere on Nickelodeon on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 7:30PM ET/PT, after its TV premiere on CBS at 11/23. The stop motion special is inspired by the classic Rankin/Bass holiday specials, which are also predominantly animated using stop-motion, as well as the popular SpongeBob song released in 2009, “Don’t Be a Jerk (It’s Christmas),”co-written by Tom Kenny (voice of SpongeBob) and Andy Paley. It’s a Spongebob Christmas! will feature the guest voice of John Goodman as Santa Claus.
