DreamWorks casts voices for Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom

Much work, study, and preparation is going into DreamWorks Animations’ upcoming film, Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom. The CG and 3D flick, sequel to the successful original Kung Fu Panda, is already known to feature the voice talent of returning stars like Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, and James Hong. Now, the producers have tipped that new voices joining the fray will include Gary Oldman, Michelle Yeoh, Jean Claude Van Damme, and Victor Garber, to name a few. Jack Black hunts Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster

Jack Black hunts Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster

Well, at least, in animated form. Jack Black is currently involved with Chris Meledandri’s production unit, a part of Universal, for an upcoming animated film. While there’s still no name for the movie, it has already been acquired by Illumination Entertainment based on the premise; the search for beasts and monsters of legend, like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. The animated film will be produced by Electric Dynamite, bringing teams together who have formerly worked on Horton Hears a Who!, the Ice Age movies, and The King of Kong. Jack Black is no noob to the world of voice acting, starring in the role of Po in Kung Fu Panda, and ranking amongst the all time top earners. We’ll just have to wait and see how this one fares! Any early thoughts?

Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and Jack Black lead list of top voice talent

Forbes recently compiled a top 10 list of Hollywood’s Animation A-List; the voice actor’s who bring in the most attention, and most money, for their animated features. With the pheneomenal and enduring success of the Shrek franchise, it’s not difficult to see why Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy are up there as Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey in the DreamWorks Animation pics, pulling in about $10 million a piece – potentially more in the upcoming Shrek Forever After. Kung Fu Panda’s Jack Black also edges towards the top, and will likely help kick that up a little further in the sequel, The Kaboom of Doom, scheduled to hit theaters summer 2011. Take a look at the full list

Kung Fu Panda: The Series starts production

Kung Fu Panda: The Series starts production

Nickelodeon has had tremendous success with the hit series The Penguins of Madagascar, based on the DreamWorks Animation film franchise Madagascar. Now, they’re taking that same logic and applying it to another DreamWorks movie, Kung Fu Panda, giving us the creatively named Kung Fu Panda: The Series. We’d heard about this awhile ago, but can now finally confirm that the show is in production. The series, which will be produced at Nickelodeon’s Animation Studios by Cheryl Holliday, hopes to grab at least special guest appearances of all the original movie cast, though the rumor now is they’ll be using sound-alikes to replace the celebrity voices, like Jack Black and Angelina Jolie. Be sure to stay TOONed right here for more updates.
