Want to hear something truly, truly, truly outrageous? Jem is back – in film form!

It was recently announced that a live-action film is in the works for this treasured ’80s franchise. However, unlike many Hollywood endeavors, the creators wish for fans to contribute. Whether a person wants to submit designs for costumes or vie for a spot on the cast, they can do so by visiting the movie’s official Tumblr page. “It’s sort of like Kickstarter,” said director Jon M. Chu. “But rather than asking for money, we’re asking for your creativity.”

Singin with the Jetsons and Rockin with Judy Jetson on Warner Archive DVD

Singin with the Jetsons and Rockin with Judy Jetson on Warner Archive DVD

Sky Rocker is a big name in the music industry. Or, at least, he will be thousands of years from now when we live in the era of The Jetsons. And Sky Rocker is clearly not meant to be confused with Skywalker – especially since both Anakin and Luke are from a “long time ago.” But in the future, Sky is all the rage, and Judy Jetson couldn’t be a bigger fan. When she and he friends attend his show, Judy hopes to impress Sky with a new song she wrote — much to her father’s anger! Throw in an evil space queen named Felonia Funk (sounds like one of the Misfits!) and her goons Quark and Quasar, and you got yourselves a great little adventure. Thanks to Warner Bros. and Warner Archive, the whole tale, Rockin’ with Judy Jetson, will soon be available on DVD, so you can relive the fun again and again.

The Hub 2011-2012 toons: Transformers, Littlest Pet Shop, Batman

The Hub 2011-2012 toons: Transformers, Littlest Pet Shop, Batman

When The Hub premiered on our television screens, it graced us with old cartoons that we know and love. We’re talking G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, Conan the Adventurer, Men in Black: The series, Batman Beyond, Transformers Generation 1, and others. But they didn’t limit their offerings to 80’s and 90’s cartoons — instead, the Discovery and Hasbro venture broadcast original animated toons like: G.I. Joe: Renegades, Transformers: Prime, My Little Pony, and much more. To add to that list of new original animated shows the Hub announced its 2011-2012 program line up — even including a Warren Buffet animated series. Take a look at the Hub’s line-up for 2011-2012

The 1980s was an iconic era for music, clothing, and attitude. Jem and the Holograms perfectly targets all of those facets perfectly in animated form. A creation between Hasbro, Marvel Productions, and Sumbow Productions (the teams behind G.I. Joe and Transformers) and animated by Toei Doga (Toei Animation) the toon told a story about Jerrica Benton, whose rocker alter ego Jem, along with her band the Holograms, led the show on a number of adventures – special thanks to a pair of high tech earrings – belting out real songs like “Love is Here.” Kinda like Hannah Montana in cartoon form! Now, starting May 31st, Jem and the Holograms is coming to The Hub, with a sneak peek premiering May 28th. As long as they avoid the evil motives of rival band The Misfits!
