Joss Whedon Talks About Scarlet Witch’s Costume for Avengers 2

Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron is pretty much a done deal, so Joss Whedon can talk about the topic freely. What’s been churning in the director’s mind right now, though, is the issue of Scarlet Witch’s costume. Anyone familiar with the character’s iconic comic book costume, as well as The Avengers movie’s approach to costumes, will understand why Whedon is concerned: it’s not practical for a live action film, and might look silly within the context.

Fortunately for fans, Whedon is confident that the conceptual artists for Marvel are up to the task, and can provide a great balance between looking good and practical, while still retaining core concepts that are associated with the character:

Quicksilver to Appear in X-Men Sequel, According to Bryan Singer

X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer recently announced on his Twitter account that American Horror Story star Even Peters will be playing Quicksilver in his upcoming sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past. The news is generating a lot of buzz among fans lately, mainly because Joss Whedon has already revealed that the next Avengers movie will include mutant siblings Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

The news is interesting because X-Men: Days of Future Past is a Fox movie, while Avengers is a Disney/Marvel one (the three big studios that have movie rights to major Marvel properties right now are Fox, Sony, and Disney/Marvel). Fans are currently wondering on how Fox and Marvel can reconcile the two different versions of Quicksilver.

Joss Whedon Talks About Possible Hulk Movie

Joss Whedon Talks About Possible Hulk Movie

The Hulk is easily one of the most popular characters in the recent Avengers movie, so it wasn’t surprising that many fans kept holding on to rumors of a standalone film in the near future. Sadly, both Mark Ruffalo and Joss Whedon has denied the rumors, with Ruffalo being open to the possibility while admitting that he hasn’t been contacted yet. He is in contract to play all movie versions of the Hulk, at least until said contract expires, so he’s probably one of the first few people to know.

Whedon, for his part, recently talked to Deadline.com and clarified why he finds the character problematic:

Joss Whedon Agrees to Direct Avengers Sequel

Avengers turned out to be one of the best things that happened to Disney’s shareholders, as it was reportedly responsible for lifting the studio’s third quarter earnings to nearly $11.1 billion, or 4 percent of the previous one. It also meant that their profits were up by 24 percent to $1.8 billion over the same quarter. And now, it seems the franchise is getting ready to do the same thing again, starting with the confirmation that director Joss Whedon will be returning to write and direct the sequel to the Marvel superhero blockbuster.

Joss Whedon Still Undecided on Directing Avengers Sequel

It’s not a secret that Joss Whedon is one of the key factors that made The Avengers the third highest-grossing movie of all time in domestic and international markets (and the most successful comic book movie to date with a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes), but while a sequel is inevitable, the director’s seat is still up in the air as Whedon himself confirmed that he has not yet come to a decision on whether he wants to return for the sequel.

Whedon’s statement was given during a Firefly reunion panel at the San Diego Comic Con:

“I have not come to a decision on directing Avengers 2 yet… I am having too much fun with this [reunion] now.”
