Warner Bros. Releases Harry Potter for Kinect

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Eurocom have jointly announced the North American release of a new Harry Potter game for Xbox 360’s Kinect. The game will allow players to join Harry, Ron, and Hermione on an fun-filled magical adventure through Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and beyond.

Harry Potter for Kinect will utilize the state of the art face recognition technology of the Kinect in order to create a wizard of witch character in the likeness of the players, so that they can play as themselves instead of using generic stock characters. The Kinect also provides both motion activated controls and voice-recognition for casting spells and in game movement, particularly with regards to repelling Dementors and competing in Quidditch matches.

Fans of Harry Potter who own an Xbox360 and a Kinect will now get a chance to experience the world of J.K. Rowling’s hit novel and movie franchise to the best that technology can offer. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Eurocom has joined forces to introduce the Harry Potter for Kinect videogame, which is exclusive to the xbox 360 system.

2K Play’s baseball crossover pits MLB superstars like Derek Jeter against cartoon superstars like …SpongeBob SquarePants?!! 2K Games hopes this game can revitalize their baseball offerings with 23 characters from Nicktoons favorites like Spongebob, Avatar: The Last Airbender, T.U.F.F. Puppy, Planet Sheen, Fanboby and Chum Chum, Danny Phantom, Invader Zim, and last but certainly not least, Ren and Stimpy. If that’s not enough, gamers will have access to over 300 MLB pros, with stadiums from both the real world and animated world.

Few things sound more enjoyable than taking a trip around the tropics on a luxury cruise ship. Unless, of course, there’s constantly the angry yelling of the phrase, “Alvin!!!” in the background. With that in mind, you’ll likely not want to board with Alvin, Simon, and Theodore this December, when they cast off in the latest 3D adventure, Alvin and the Chipmunks ChipWrecked. The film, formally titled Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D, follows the Chipmunks and the Chipettes (Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor) turning the cruise ship into their personal playground until they become shipwrecked on a desert island. As David Seville searches frantically, the 6 critters do their best waiting for rescue by singing, dancing, and generally rocking the island! Oh, and maybe there’s some buried treasure. We’ll see.

Thanks to the folks over at Majesco Entertainment Company, fans of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore wont just have to settle with a brand new 3D animated film this holiday season. Working alongside with Twentieth Century Fox and Bagdasarian Productions, Majesco will bring a brand new video game title based on the film, bearing the same name: Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. Available on the Xbox 360 Kinect, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS a few weeks prior to the film’s December 16th box office release, the Behavior Interactive game allows fans to sing and dance with the Chipmunks and Chipettes. Hopefully, just in your living room and not abandoned on a desert island.

There was the original. There was the Squeakquel. Now, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore are returning in a third film to the franchise titled Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. The trio return in an adventure on the high seas, also marking the return of the Chipettes. Formerly known as Alvin and the Chipmunks 3D, the new adventure stars the little rodents and their rocking misadventures, as long as David Seville (Jason Lee, once again) allows them to get away with it. The story follows the gang aboard the Carnival Dream’s recreation area, and a number of tropical stops, including one desert island that they all get stuck on. Maybe the ‘Munks can jam there…? One such game, Disneyland Adventures, caught special attention from ToonBarn followers, due to the obvious links to animation. The title recreates a large amount of the Disneyland theme park, that is normally only available to folks in California. Now that its all digitized, you’ll be able to view attractions like Alice in Wonderland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain and Matterhorn Bobsleds from your living room! Always wanted to be like Peter Pan and do battle with Captain Hook? Here’s your chance!

Ahhh Disneyland. The happiest place on Earth. …and on Xbox 360? At this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, aka E3 2011, Microsoft’s keynote conference confirmed that Disneyland Adventures is coming on the 360 for Kinect. This unique video game lets you have fun and play around in a virtual copy of Disneyland. The entire theme park is duplicated for your (and your avatar’s!) enjoyment. You can stroll around, check out the attractions, and even play mini games with characters like Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan! When can you play? Well, truthfully, we don’t know yet, as the release date has yet to become official. But rest assured, soon enough, you can play with your friends at Disneyland, without ever leaving your living room.

Halloween is infamous for bringing out devilish, frightening, and incredibly scary characters to our immediate attention. Most of the time, that’s a great thing. However, for what feels like the bast brajillion years, we’ve gotten a terrifying version of one of our more beloved favorites, without ever asking for or wanting it. The target? Sonic the Hedgehog. While the Sonic X toon lives on, the days of awesome Sonic video games feels like it has drifted to the distant past. Year after year, fans are excited for, then disappointed with, the latest SEGA has to offer. That is, until this year. A few weeks back, we got Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I – Sonic’s return to 2D glory. Now, coming up, we’re promised two more gems with Sonic Free Riders on November 4th and Sonic Colors on November 16th. With all these release dates circling the Halloween holiday, we can only hope its more of a treat than a trick!
