Every year. Every holiday. It never feels special or real until we get word from Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of the Peanuts gang. This year, the Thanksgiving episode finds a home directly on turkey day, hitting ABC on Thursday, November 24th, at 8pm. A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, the classic half hour animated special, was created by Charles M. Schulz back in 1973, which means we’re nearing the 40th anniversary of the toon. Featuring the usual sweet story that we’ve come to expect from the Peanuts gang, as well as perfectly matching with Vince Guaraldi’s musical score, this Emmy Award winning cartoon is a childhood classic for generations of childhoods.

Getting right to the point, it’s not Halloween until Snoopy says so. The same can be said for several other holidays, from Christmas to Thanksgiving. And no matter what kind of argument you use against the point, the fact remains: the holiday just doesn’t feel like the holiday unless you get to experience the Peanuts special, just like you did the year before, and the year before that, and the year before that. Once again, ABC is happy to help us out on the quest, as the classic Peanuts Halloween special, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, will air on Thursday, October 27th, at 8pm.

One of the most memorable visuals of the Peanuts crew is the attachment between Linus and his blanket. As one of Charlie Brown and Snoopy’s good friends, you can find Linus in most every adventure for the Charles M. Schulz group of kids, always side by side (or sometimes even adorned in) his baby blue blanket. But in the new hour long special, Happiness Is A Warm Blanket, Charlie Brown, the task is to help Linus separate from his security blanket when his grandmother comes for a visit. No easy task! But with time ticking down, everyone is focusing in on this security situation! Take a look at the teaser trailer for the special, then be sure to TOON in to fox on November 24th for the full presentation.

And lookit this, ABC isn’t done with the animated specials! In the midst of the 8-9 hour that features Prep & Landing, you’ve got perhaps the most popular animated holiday classic of them all: A Charlie Brown Christmas. December 7th is a popular one, huh! The special, featuring the lovable creations of Charles M. Schulz, is a digitally-remastered version of the classic 1965 special, with Charlie Brown upset over the materialism on the holiday, turning to Lucy, Linus, Snoopy and the gang for meaning in the Christmas pageant.

Tonight, a classic. For those of you with a free hour between 8-9pm, the ABC network should be your destination of choice, as the Disney-owned station puts on one of the more famous Charles M. Schulz Peanuts specials, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. This is the tenth Snoopy-themed special in the lineup, originally appearing on CBS in 1973 – even winning an Emmy! As if that weren’t enough of Lucy, Linus, Sally and the rest, the second half of the hour will feature This Is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers, on Thursday, November 18 at 8-9p. We couldn’t think of a better way to get ready for the Turkey holiday than with Charlie Brown and pals

If you weren’t already incredibly aware that Halloween was on its way, then tonight is the night you’ll know for sure, as ABC is breaking out the Peanuts classic It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Charlie Brown, and the rest of Charles M. Schulz’ creations are on the hunt for the legendary Great Pumpkin. Thankfully, for us, the entire thing is encapsulated in an hour long special, that ABC is airing tonight, October 28th. And remember, it’s not “if” the special airs tonight, it’s “when” — 8pm! That is of vital importance. Take a look at a clip of the toon in action, and if you’re able to stay awake for it, head to the pumpkin patch (living room?) and watch it tonight!!

Like clockwork – soothing, reassuring clockwork – the Peanuts celebrate every holiday with a special. And with ABC fully aware that Halloween is but days away, they’re throwing on one of the best in the collection of classics, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. The Charles M. Schulz toon will run this Thursday, October 28th at 8pm on ABC, just as it nears it’s 50th anniversary, having first been shown in 1966. Linus hopes that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin, while Charlie Brown is (finally!) invited to a Halloween party. Vince Guaraldi is the music composer, of course, bringing his melodic background flow to the likes of Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Sally, Schroeder, and the rest.

Nickelodeon and Paramount introduce Johnny Depp as Rango

Rango is a pet chameleon who lives in a terrarium. Everything is calm and comfortable and relaxing and quiet. Until, one day, he somehow ends up in the rough of an Old West town in the American southwest, whose name is actually “Dirt.” As he’s always thought himself a hero, Rango establishes himself as the lawman, strolling the streets as a sheriff like character. Unbeknown to him, the “good guy” role doesn’t do very well in Dirt – with a whole cemetery filled with good guy tombstones. But that doesn’t stop Rango from trying, constantly seeking to fit in, with his surroundings, no matter how challenging – just like a good chameleon! Check out the teaser trailer of this upcoming Nickelodeon and Paramount flick, due in theaters March 4th, 2011.

ABC to Snoopy and the Peanuts gang: Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown

The Peanuts crew may now be worth $175 million (thanks to United Media) but the group of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Woodstock, and more aren’t just resting back! With summer in full swing, the Peanuts Gang are back at it with a new baseball themed special: Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown. The episode reaches the ABC network on Wednesday, July 14th, at 8pm. Created by Charles M. Schulz, the characters started life in comic strips before moving to regular seasonal appearances on ABC, all featuring original music by Vince Guaraldi and David Benoit. After a whopping 900 losses, baseball team manager Charlie Brown will do anything for a win. The opportunity to trade Lucy might be his lucky ticket… but can new player Marcie finally lead the team to victory?

Charlie Brown and Snoopy are worth $175 million, so says Peanuts sale

Now that is a sizable investment! The Peanuts gang, whose members include Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, Pig-Pen, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, Linus, Sally, the red-headed girl, Woodstock, and more, was just sold by E.W. Scripps Co. to Iconix Brand Group. Iconix is currently known for brands like Joe Boxer, Candies, and Danskin, but can now add the famous comic strips and holiday-specials to their galleries. And at what cost? $175 million dollars. The Peanuts sale is beyond just Snoopy Comics, and certainly the largest monetary volume attributed to original creator, Charles M. Schulz; whose family will lock in 20 percent ownership of the franchise.

Super Bowl XLIV today, Saints versus the Colts

Super Bowl XLIV today, Saints versus the Colts

Today is the day, Super Bowl XLIV. Day-long hype will build the story of the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts doing battle on the field, a true grid iron classic. While any football reference instantly brings the toon image of Lucy and Charlie Brown of Peanuts fame to my mind, I’m very much looking forward to enjoying the game today. Well, the game, and the commercials! Have you guys picked a team yet? Is it the standard answer of “well, the Colts have Peyton, but we want ‘Nawlins to win!” ? What say you!!
