Review: Disney’s Sleeping Beauty – Diamond Edition Blu-Ray, Digital HD

Last October 7, Disney once again opened its vaults in order to release their iconic take on the classic fairy tale, Sleeping Beauty, as a Diamond Edition superset, which includes Blu-Ray, Digital HD, and VOD via Disney Movies Anywhere. The release is notable enough on its own, but made even more so by the fact that it marks the first time the film will be released on Digital HD, with polished sound and picture quality that will make it fit in with modern releases.

First Official Trailer for Disney’s Live Action Cinderella Film

It turns out that Maleficent is not going to be the last of Disney’s live action take on their popular animated fairy tale classics, as they have recently posted a new teaser trailer for what seems like a live action version of Cinderella.

The Cinderella film being teased is scheduled for a March 13, 2015 release and will be directed by Kenneth Branagh based on a script penned by Chris Weitz. The movie features Lily James as the titular Disney princess. Surprisingly, Helena Bonham Carter plays the fairy godmother opposite Cate Blanchette, who plays the evil stepmother.

New Maleficent Trailer Released

Walt Disney has released a brand new official trailer for the upcoming Maleficent, which casts Angelina Jolie as the titular fairy tale antagonist. But this time around, the story will center around Maleficent’s backstory, revealing that maybe she’s not exactly evil incarnate, and that her actions are at least partly backed by motivations that the average person can relate to.

One of the key takeaways you can get from the trailer is Maleficent’s true form. It seems that she used to have wings, and once fought alongside forest creatures against a human army. The movie will also feature her sharing a conversation with Aurora. Make no mistake about it, the trailer shows that she’s not a saint and deserves every iota of fear that her name commands.

New Trailer for Disney’s Maleficent

A new trailer for Disney’s upcoming villain-centric film Maleficent has been released on the Internet. The trailer this time has been dubbed “Dream,” and comes packed with more footage and an eerie version of Lana Del Ray’s ‘Once Upon A Dream.’ Additionally, the trailer contains footages of some of the monsters that will be featured in the film.

One of the key scenes in the film include a glimpse at Angelina Jolie’s slightly lighter play on the villain, going for a playful chuckle than a maniacal laugh. You can check out the trailer below:

Disney Changes Maleficent Release Date

It seems like Disney is meticulously rearranging their slate in order to optimize the returns. We have previously heard of the change in Pirates of the Carribean 5’s release date, now it’s the Angelina Jolie-starrer Maleficent.

According to Walt Disney Studios’ announcement, the live action Sleeping Beauty spin-off will be released on May 30, 2014 – a little bit earlier than the original July schedule. The film focuses on the origin of the villain, specifically the series of events that hardened her heart and drove her to put a curse on the baby Aurora. The film stars Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville.

Tangled shows how Mother Gothel knows best

Tangled shows how Mother Gothel knows best

Mother Gothel is a modern day Ursula. Or Scar. Or Maleficent. Summing it up, she’s the baddest of the bad types in the world of Disney villains. In Tangled, it’s Mother Gothel who locks Rapunzel in a tower, tricking her into thinking it’s for protection. The modern day take on the Grimm Brothers classic fairy tale clearly took a few liberties in the retelling, but were Mother Gothel’s intentions 100% wrong? Maybe she really did just want to help Rapunzel? Let us know what you think while you’re touring through the coloring sheets, recipes, and other fun games we’ve included in anticipation of the Blu-ray and DVD launch this week, March 29th.

Could Tim Burton take on Sleeping Beauty after Alice in Wonderland

Could Tim Burton take on Sleeping Beauty after Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton knows cinematic success. Disney ain’t too shabby either. Recently, the two paired to recreate one of the Magic Kingdom’s animated classics, Alice in Wonderland, to phenomenal success. With a full stable of other blockbusters in their lineup, it’s not too surprising that the grouping could work together once more on another film — and rumors point to Sleeping Beauty. The tale features a jilted sister named Maleficent, one of the scariest toons of all time, who is so ticked off that she didn’t get an invite to Aurora’s birthday, she turns into a dragon and tries to squash her. Well, not exactly, and we may have skipped a bit of the story, but those are some pretty key moments. What do you think, can Burton work his magic again? And would Johnny Depp play Prince Charming?
