MGM Buys Movie Rights to Where’s Waldo

Classic Media has revealed that the movie rights to their book-based property Where’s Waldo? has been acquired by MGM, and there are plans to create a live action adaptation out of the classic children’s book and cartoon series. According to MGM’s president of Motion Picture Group Jonathan Glickman: “We are thrilled to be bringing the search for Waldo to the big screen. Along with our partners at Classic Media, we look forward to making a worldwide adventure that will appeal to Where’s Waldo? fans of all ages,”

Pink Panther and Pals this Sunday

This Sunday, March 7th, Cartoon Network will be debuting yet another new animated series, Pink Panther and Pals, at 7:30 am. It’s been quite a run for the CN, with all these new shows, but we couldn’t be happier! Rubicon Studios and MGM are behind this one, bringing us the first new Pink Panther toon in over 15 years. The show will star the teenaged pink-hued panther and his friends in a 15 minute episode. That will then be followed by one short of the classic Ant & the Aardvark characters. It’s been nearly 50 years since David DePatie and Friz Freleng created the character, so he’s long over due for a series catered to this generation. Here’s a brief look at the show in action

Bunyan & Babe

The famous American folktale of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox is going to have a brand new animated version later this year! Exodus Film Group is putting together the toon that will make its way across the country via MGM. The new take on the classic tale will feature the voices of John Goodman, playing Paul Bunyan, and Kelsey Grammer, playing the movie’s villain, the evil developer.

MGM Home Entertainment will bring the beloved CG-animated movie Igor to DVD and Blu-ray on January 20th, 2009.  The discs will include a bit of extra material, including some deleted scenes, bloopers and a “Be An Igor” featurette. The Blu-ray will also include an alternate opening scene.
