New Spongebob Squarepants Clip: SpongeBob, You’re Fired!

Nickelodeon has just released a new preview clip for next week’s episode of Spongebob Squarepants, titled ‘Spongebob, You’re Fired!,’ which airs on Monday, November 11, at 7:00 PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon. The episode has the hard-working, ever-optimistic SpongeBob finally feeling the effects of the economic downturn, as he finds himself unceremoniously fired when the greedy Mr. Krabs tries to build his profit margins through any means possible. With years of watching SpongeBob, have you ever really just wanted to see what a Krabby Patty tastes like? I mean, there seems to always be a pretty decent following at the Krusty Krab from the folks in Bikini Bottom. Mr. Krabs should be able to share the secret recipe with us, right? Well, what once was just a dream can now actually be a reality, with Nickelodeon and Wiley Hardcover’s new book project SpongeBob’s Kitchen Mission Cookbook. The book follows with SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, Squidward, Plankton, Sandy, and of course Mr. Krabs as they go head-to-head in a competition to make the best meals. It’s an Iron Chef under the sea! The book features over 50 recipes, along with step by step instructions and illustrations, to make sure the food at home comes out as delicious as it looks in the toon.

SpongeBob and Nickelodeon split ways

SpongeBob and Nickelodeon split ways

Well isn’t this a crazy week for news! First, we find out that Yu-Gi-Oh! and 4Kids are breaking up – now it seems the most beloved sponge to ever grace our planet earth is parting ways with the company that launched him. Starting later today, April 1st, SpongeBob SquarePants programming will be pulled from Nickelodeon airwaves. Details behind the split are not yet fully known, but we’re working aggressively (and porously) to track them down. As the 10-year-old toon has never been more successful, it’s doubtful SpongeBob will remain down for long. Rumors have already started to trickle down from Bikini Beach that the toon will be looking for a new home on 4Kids Entertainment’s Toonzai block, with a possible weekday deal with Cartoon Network. We’ll get more info on the breaking news, but let us know what you think in the meantime!! Would it be better or worse for a 4Kids Patrick? Or a Cartoon Network Mr. Krabs?

Nightsisters brings Savage Opress to Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Nightsisters brings Savage Opress to Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Just waiting to dig into some Clone Wars action scenes? Already a buzz with the Force thanks to the recent Star Wars Blu-ray announcements? Well Cartoon Network has some big stuff planned for you, starting with the newest Nightsisters storyline for season 3 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The three-episode arc introduces Savage Opress, whom George Lucas himself dubbed “Darth Maul’s brother.” With Clancy Brown behind the voice (just as he was for Justice League Unlimited’s Lex Luthor – and SpongeBob’s Mr. Krabs) it seems like this could be the teetering point of giving the Sith full control over the Jedi. Or, perhaps, Savage will stir for the good guys? Mr. Brown himself answers “you don’t really have a choice on who you are when the Nightsisters and Asajj and Count Dooku are involved.” Check out a sneak peek clip

SpongeBob SquarePants stars in Nickelodeon’s Mystery with a Twistery in tonight’s special. Mr. Krabs (voiced by Clancy Brown, who also plays Lex Luthor on Cartoon Network’s Justice League) has grown tired of dealing with his villainous rival Plankton, so he sends his secret recipe for Krabby Patty burgers to a far-away chest for safekeeping. Unfortunately, as soon as it’s out of his sight, Mr. Krabs forgets the recipe and sends SpongeBob and Patrick to retrieve it. Little do they know, Plankton follows them, bent on stealing the secret for his own. At 8pm, it’s game time.
