20th Century Fox Plans Dragonball: Evolution Sequel

Ottawa/Toronto, April 1, 2104 – Despite the poor reception and the overwhelmingly negative feedback from fans and critics alike, 20th Century Fox is willing to give their live-action Dragon Ball adaptation another chance. According to sources, the studio has already acknowledged all the criticism levied on the first film, and will be taking them into consideration during production of the sequel.

Hong Kong comedian, writer, and director Stephen Chow has reportedly signed on as director after originally turning it down in favor of producing. Chow signed on under the condition that he share directorial duties with Christopher Nolan, hoping that the auteur would bring the same depth and pathos seen in The Dark Knight trilogy, which will complement Chow’s patented “mo lei tau” comedic stylings.

Welcome to Flashpoint Paradox Week on ToonBarn!

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox

Well, the day has finally arrived! For those of you who weren’t able to go to San Diego Comic-Con, TODAY is the first time Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox has ever been available on DVD or Blu-Ray. I highly recommend Blu-Ray, if you weren’t already leaning in that direction. Some of you may have already downloaded the movie from iTunes, when it became available on the digital format on July 19th (or 20th, depending on your timezone).

Robot Chicken DC Comics Special DVD Preview

Robot Chicken DC Comics Special Blu-Ray/DVD Releases on Tuesday, July 9, 2013

The first thing you notice when you watch the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special DVD is the menu has the original theme from CHALLENGE OF THE SUPERFRIENDS (debut: Sept. 9, 1978) playing in a loop, which was the first time the Legion of Doom was introduced in the Saturday Morning Cartoons we all loved as kids. If you didn’t have the chance to see the RCDC Special when it debuted on Adult Swim last September, the menu immediately identifies which version of the JLA/Superfriends they are lampooning on the DVD. Thank GOD! Thankfully, we weren’t put through the ringer with Marvin, Wendy, Wonderdog, the Wonder Twins or Gleek. In “Challenge of the Superfriends”, we weren’t distracted by lame characters thrown in for comic relief, and we were able to focus on the fact that Robin and Aquaman really don’t contribute a whole lot to the Justice League’s successes.

Justice League Doom takes DC Comics Tower of Babel to Blu-ray and DVD

Justice League Doom takes DC Comics Tower of Babel to Blu-ray and DVD

As we’ve learned from the Cartoon Network toons, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, The Justice League is a pretty darn powerful group. I mean, fighting the likes of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and the countless other juggernauts makes for a pretty big event. As scary as some of the bigger villains are, like Lex Luthor and the Joker, there’s not many bad guys that have the plans to take on the League. So what does Warner Premiere and DC Comics do? They have create Justice League: Doom, a story where Batman takes them all down!

Move over, Ryan Reynolds! There’s a new ring slinger in the DC Universe – at least the animated one. To couple the hype for DC Comics’ upcoming live-action Green Lantern film, Warner Bros. Animation is releasing a special collection of animated GL segments on DVD June 7th, called Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. Nathan Fillion will provide the voice of Hal Jordan, whose quest is to train Arisia, a new recruit, voiced by Elizabeth Moss. Just like when Warner Premiere brought Batman: Gotham Knights to the small screen as it’s big brother brought the Dark Knight to the big screen, Warner is hoping to spark some added green interest in the character with this new DVD and Blu-ray title. Will this just be the beginning of the Lantern Corps? We’ll just have to wait and see
