Nike Commissions Polynoid for New CG Spot

Nike has recently commissioned Blacklist animation studio Polynoid for an all-CG spot titled “Deadly Breed,” which is meant for Nike’s new Hypervenom shoe. The commercial was launched via the web and in stores last May 29.

The look of the interior uses real life gym locker rooms as reference material, with the Polynoid team also watching BBC natural history films to get an idea of how snakes and scorpions move. Animators used ZBrush and Softimage to create 3D elements, which were then rendered out in Solid Angle’s Arnold prior to compositing inside Nuke.

Nike Commissions Logan for CG World

Creative studio and production company LOGAN has been commissioned by Nike in order to provide Nike+ users with a stunning, post-apocalyptic ice storm of a world with two 6-minute CG character-animated games featuring a cast of top athletes, such as NFL receiver Calvin Johnson, soccer players Alex Morgan and Neymar Jr., and sprinter Allyson Felix. The project was made in collaboration with Conscious Minds, and is intended to promote a new line of weather-resistant clothing.

Players with a Nike+-activated device can choose a mission and navigate the stages using one of the athletes as an avatar. Real-life challenges will intertwine with the game, creating one of the most engrossing ARGs to date:
