M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender brings Nickelodeon’s Avatar to 3D

M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender brings Nickelodeon's Avatar to 3D

On July 2nd, a mere 6 weeks from now, Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures will bring The Last Airbender to the big screen. The film is M. Night Shyamalan’s live action representation of Nick’s Avatar: the Last Airbender animated series, an American anime with manga style. As an added little bonus, and largely due to the amazing success of … well… every film that has come out in the past year or so, The Last Airbender is getting the 3D treatment. The movie promises to delight on all three dimensions now, reaching out into the audience, as long as you’re wearing those neat little glasses. What’s your thoughts on the whole “everything must be 3D” trend? It worked well for the other Avatar – do you think it will click with Nickelodeon’s version?

Since we got a great look at the film in action during the Super Bowl, we’ve been truly excited to finally get to see M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. Based on Nickelodeon’s American-made, manga-styled anime Avatar: The Last Airbender, the upcoming movie is a rich mix of live action and CG effects. Produced by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, the film features the elemental based world of Air, Water, Earth, and Fire threaten to tear life apart until Aang discovers he is the lone Avatar, with the power to manipulate all four elements. Take a look at the just-released third trailer for the film and let us know what you think!

The Last Airbender's new trailer

Last week, theaters welcomed Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief to the box office; and warmly, we might add. More importantly to us, however, was that the film included the newtrailer to M. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming film The Last Airbender – longer than the trailer shown during the Super Bowl. The story, based on Nickelodeon’s Avatar The Last Airbender, tells the tale of Aang, a 12-year-old boy (played by Noah Ringer) who provides the last hope for restoring harmony to a land consumed by chaos. Take a look at the trailer right here and see for yourself!

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny. But when the Fire Nation launches a brutal attack on the others, the world sinks into war. A century of battles rage, with no hope in sight, until Aang begins to unlock his true calling, and discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Sound familiar? It should! Nickelodeon’s hit animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender is going to get the hollywood treatment in live-action form, thanks to M. Night Shyamalan, Nickelodeon Movies, and Paramount Pictures. The film, starring Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, and Jackson Rathbone, hits theaters on July 2nd, 2010, but those at the San Diego Comic-Con got to see an early teaser trailer …which you now can see too, after the break!
