Amazon Acquires Imira’s Lola & Virginia for their On-Demand Service

Retail giant Amazon has recently struck a deal with Spanish kids’ entertainment outfit Imira Entertainment for the on-demand content rights to the original series Lola & Virginia (52 x 11), under which the series will be making its way to Amazon Instant and Amazon Prime in the North American region. The deal was brokered by the series’ U.S. distributor Viva Pictures Distribution LLC.

Toon Goggles has recently rolled out the latest major update for their on-demand entertainment for kids app, featuring a whole slew of graphical and functional improvements, including over 50 HTML5-based interactive games along with regular updates planned for the whole year. Choosing to go with HTML5 is a very important decision, as it is supported by all mobile devices, as opposed to Flash.

The new update will also provide kids and their parents with an expanded selection of free content to choose from, which is supported by kid-appropriate, pre-approved ads. Premium membership is available for users who don’t want any ads in their app.

The Kung Fu Panda series has been among DreamWorks’ most popular and successful films, entertaining U.S. audiences to the tune of $380 million at the box office. Focusing on many Asian themes, for example… you know… Kung Fu, the film has an obvious following in Mainland China, at least for those who were able to see it. In order to help on the quest, Youku, one of China’s online TV companies, has worked a deal with DreamWorks Animation to distribute Paramount’s Kung Fu Panda and Kung Fu Panda 2 across China via the Youku Premium on-demand service. Angelina Mouseling has come a long way. From the village of Chipping Cheddar in London, England, this brave little mouse loves to dance and chase her dreams of becoming a famous ballerina. The Katharine Holabird and Helen Craig creation has truly become a star since first being published in 1983. Since then, there have been a number of books, a PBS toon, and millions of fans ready to follow every dance step. Now, Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment will bring her adventures home in Angelina Ballerina: The Shining Star Trophy. The CG animated movie will be available on DVD, On Demand, and as a digital download on August 30th.

Warner Premiere has been on a hot streak, releasing some of the greatest super hero films of all time in the span of just a few years. And, luckily for fans like us, they’re all animated creations, expanding the world of toons for us all. Whether its Green Lantern or Wonder Woman or even all of the Justice League, they’re always hitting home runs with top notch work. This time around, we’re getting Superman and Batman in the same film… again! We already had the awesome Superman Batman Public Enemies, now the super hero team is pairing up once more to do battle against Darkseid on behalf of Supergirl in Superman Batman: Apocalypse.
