The Sword of Omens lost on the ThunderCats The Duelist and The Drifter

On Friday, September 9th (in other words TONIGHT!) Cartoon Network is dishing out an all new episode of their all new ThunderCats series! Even though most of us, whether your fans of the new show or the 1980s ThunderCats, think that Lion-O and the Sword of Omens are inseparable, that doesn’t necessarily mean that enemies aren’t trying to work a wedge between the two. When Lion-O travels through a village filled with skilled swordsmen, the Duelist makes a challenge to take the mythical weapon. If that happens, what’s a man-cat to do? Can he rely on Tygra or Panthro for help? And who is this listless Drifter that offers his assistance? Find out this and more on The Duelist and the Drifter, tonight at 8:30pm on Cartoon Network!

Ancient Spirits of Evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra, the ever-living!! Since the ThunderCats had their original series in the 1980s, Mumm-Ra has been amongst the scariest of all cartoon characters. But this latest version on Cartoon Network truly proves the villain is ever-living! Completely reborn along with the rest of the saga, Mumm-Ra makes his true return in August 26th’s episode, Journey to the Tower of Omens. Lion-O and the rest of the ThunderCats must pass a series of obstacles to reach the Book of Omens. When Mumm-Ra rises to challenge them, it’s up to Lion-O to save the rest and secure the Stones of Power.

Panthro, Lion-O, Grune: Old Friends on Cartoon Network's ThunderCats

Tonight, at 8:30 on Cartoon Network, be sure to TOON into the brand new episode of the ThunderCats for a showing of Old Friends. In last week’s adventure, Song of the Petalars, fans of the new series finally got to see one of the classic icons from the 1980s cartoon, Panthro. Now, this gruff companion can officially join the new ThunderCats; even if he does intimidate Lion-O a little. But, with his arch nemesis Grune out and about, and his Thundertank in dire need of additional Thundrillium fuel, it looks like Panthro is going to have to be a little nicer to his ThunderFriends!

The ThunderCats have roared on Cartoon Network for a few weeks now in their latest incarnation. Entirely re-imagining the original 1980s series, the new take on the ThunderCats has remade each of the characters with modern animation, a new outlook, and reworked attributes, from WilyKit and WilyKat, to Cheetara, to Tygra, to Jaga, to their leader, Lion-O. However, many fans have noticed one key piece of the original puzzle was missing for all this time: Panthro. The original character was like Donatello for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in that he was an inventor of sorts, who could also kick a little butt when needed. Now, the CN is “reinventing” Panthro to the cast, introducing the famed character in tonight’s episode — along with one of his key inventions, the ThunderTank!

ThunderCats: Song of the Petalars August 12th on Cartoon Network

ThunderCats: Song of the Petalars August 12th on Cartoon Network

There’s a whole world of mutant cat people, and Lion-O is afraid of a few lizards? Well, alright, let’s be fair: it’s an entire army of unstoppable lizards to be specific. That seems like enough justification for Cartoon Network to depict Lion-O afraid for his life in this week’s episode of the ThunderCats: Song of the Petalars. Running through the environment, the ThunderCat stumbles upon an entire race of tiny multicolored creatures (not just blue, like the Smurfs) who live out their entire life spans in a mere 24 hours. Puts the whole “running away” bit in a whole new perspective. Want to know more? TOON in to Cartoon Network on August 12th for Warner Bros. new ThunderCats!
