The Hive hits Playhouse Disney in 2011

Down in Honeybee Hive, Pappa Bee, Mamma Bee, Buzzbee, and Rubee live a regular normal life. Well, for bees. Not unlike DreamWorks Animations’ A Bee Movie, the world of The Hive is a fast and furious look at human-like insects, ready to take to the sky in black and yellow patterns. And thanks to the family and their friends Miss Ladybird, Katypillar, Willy the Wasp, and Queen Bee, the newest CG animated Disney toon is always bustling with adventure. The hope is to share that fun with countries around the globe as Disney rolls out the series to it’s Playhouse Disney lineup. A joint venture between The Hive Enterprises, Bejuba, Lupus Films, Monumental Productions, and DQ Entertainment International, the new toon will debut in early 2011. BEE on the lookout for it!

Chuggington season two heads to Playhouse Disney

Chuggington season two heads to Playhouse Disney

Looks like the Ludorum CG animated series is heading back down the tracks to Disney. The first season has been riding high in the US on the various Disney outlets, just as it has in the UK on the BBC’s CBeebies. With that in mind, Disney announced they’ll gladly be showcasing a second season on Playhouse Disney, starting this coming January. Whether it’s freight cars loading or passenger cabs fueling up, there’s always something going on in Chuggington, and we get a special view of the action, thanks to chuggers Wilson, Brewster, and Koko. The locations feature a wide array of platforms, repair sheds, training yards, and more – virtually an unlimited number of destinations to explore; as long as you’ve got the tracks to spare!

The network aims to air more than 200 new episodes every year of new and existing series, such as Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, Special Agent Oso, and Imagination Movers, amongst others.

South Korea welcomes the Disney Channel

South Korea welcomes the Disney Channel

The Walt Disney Company and SK Telecom are hard at work on a deal that would bring Disney branded channels to South Korea for the first time ever. That includes the Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney amongst others, with strong indications that Disney XD would be along for the ride. The deal is still new, and the details are still being worked on, so we’re not expected to see them launch until 2011. However, once they do, Disney fans in South Korea will be able to smile with joy while watching Phineas and Ferb, Iron Man, and more. Who knows – maybe we’ll get a few more fans from South Korea on ToonBarn!

Jake and the Never Land Pirates welcomes David Arquette

Jake and the Never Land Pirates welcomes David Arquette

Consider the pirate group “+1” for Disney’s upcoming Jake and the NeverLand Pirates cartoon, as David Arquette joins the voice cast. Disney Television Animation’s upcoming series, based on the Peter Pan universe, follows the adventures of Captain Hook, Smee, and a crew of kid pirates led by the courageous Jake. Arquette will star as Skully, the parrot who helps Jake and the gang continually keep Captain Hook in check. The series is still in early production, and wont hit airwaves until next year, but it has already earned a good deal of excitement! Be on the lookout to Disney channels and Playhouse Disney-branded blocks.
