Grab Darkness Rising on DVD for a Transformers holiday

Grab Darkness Rising on DVD for a Transformers holiday

Just about one year ago, The Transformers returned to TV via the joint venture of Discovery and Hasbro known as The Hub. It’s there that the animated series made famous in the 1980s was reborn for today’s audience, complete with a new look that merged the classic style of the original toon with the updated flair of the Michael Bay movies. Transformers Prime was introduced by a five part miniseries called Darkness Rising, foretelling the resurgence of the villainous Decepticon leader, Megatron. Now, Shout! Factory has beautifully stitched together the storyline into a single movie presentation, and is bringing it all home on DVD December 6th. Darkness Rising, just in time for the holidays!

Factory will bring the Hub’s Transformers Prime home to DVD in Transformers Prime: Darkness Rising. The collection follows the 5-part original miniseries, edited together into a single movie – plus a whole world of bonus content.

Fox works a deal with The Simpsons, signing season 24 and 25

Fox works a deal with The Simpsons, signing season 24 and 25

For a moment there, we were worried. After 20+ seasons and nearing 500 episodes, it honestly wasn’t clear if the Simpsons was going to see a 24th season. A feud had developed between Fox and the cast behind-the-scenes, largely over money, that put the show’s future in jeopardy, despite being the longest running cartoon in history, and the longest running series (animated or not) on TV today. But now, just a few short days later, all is well in the Simpsons household, as the world of yellow, four-fingered folks has worked out their differences and will return to Fox for at least a 24th and 25th season. Since running as an interstitial on the Tracey Ullman Show since 1987, then getting its own spot in 1989, Matt Groening’s the Simpsons is now destined to continue it’s approach to 600 episodes – that is, after successfully passing the 500th this February.

Nickelodeon’s CatDog to DVD in CatDog: Season One from Shout Factory

Nickelodeon's CatDog to DVD in CatDog: Season One from Shout Factory

From 1998 until about 2004, Nickelodeon was all about Cats and Dogs, living together in harmony. Or, a single CatDog living together in … well, in the same body. A creation of Peter Hannan, CatDog tells the story of conjoined brothers, one half cat and one half dog, whose adventures filled years of comedy on Nickelodeon, a made-for-TV movie called CatDog: The Great Parent Mystery, and later, Nicktoons. Due to their somewhat odd look (two heads, no butts!) CatDog are outcasts in Nearburg. There, everyone from their mousey neighbor Winslow, to the Greaser Dogs has a problem with them. Through every odd adventure, however, the pair remains best of friends – a lesson Shout Factory has perfectly captured in the first season of the toon on DVD, CatDog Season One. Check out the box art and press release for details!
