Warner Bros has just released two new preview clips for the latest episode of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, entitled Regime Change. In this episode Hal Jordan, Kilowog, Aya, and Razer returns to the planet Betrassus in order to help Queen Iolande defend her world.

Queen Iolande’s problems stem from the fact that her brother Ragnar has received a red power ring, and has eagerly used it to take over the planet. This is where the Green Lanterns must do everything in their power to stop Ragnar, since the despot is determined to rule Betrassus, or destroy it altogether.

Everyone looooves the Green Lantern Corps. Known through out the universe as the patrolling “space cops,” the Green Lanterns have been saving lives and worlds for centuries, doing what they can to keep the peace. They’re so revered, they even get their own name in the title of Cartoon Network’s latest toon from the world of DC Comics, Green Lantern: The Animated Series. But there’s so much more to the show than just the color green – the CG cartoon also formally introduces the animated world to the Red Lantern Corps, filled with fire, rage, and hate, from their leader Atrocitus down to the very red rings they wield. With this group serving as the main villains to Hal Jordan, Aya, and Kilowog’s adventures in Frontier Space, let’s take a deeper look at some of the red stars.

At 7pm, Cartoon Network will shower the channel in an emerald glow as it officially debuts the premiere episode of Green Lantern: The Animated Series with the very first episode, Beware My Power… Green Lantern’s Light! The DC Comics super hero joins forces with the Warner Bros. folks behind Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited to unveil an entirely new chapter in the life of Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern Corps. Fully animated in CG, Green Lantern The Animated Series features Hal patrolling the Guardian Frontier and defending all that is good from the evil Red Lantern Corps. and their galactic threats. Green Lantern: The Animated Series in development

Though we have to wait until the spring of 2012 to get a real feel of the upcoming Green Lantern: The Animated Series, folks at Cartoon Network have recently handed out a few early looks at the project to keep us happy! Included amongst the details are a number of renderings, showing Hal Jordan, Kilowag, Atrocitus, the Guardians, Salaak, Zilius Zox, and a number of other all-stars we’ve all come to know and love from the DC Comics cast. New York Comic Con 2010 was a big source for the information, but a steady stream has continued to flow with new details ever since. What is known now is that the multiple color storylines of the Green Lantern series that debuted in comics a few years back will play heavily in the animated tale, using the Red Lanterns as the main villains.
