Everyone looooves the Green Lantern Corps. They’re so revered, they even get their own name in the title of Cartoon Network’s latest toon from the world of DC Comics, Green Lantern: The Animated Series. But there’s so much more to the show than just the color green – the CG cartoon also formally introduces the animated world to the Red Lantern Corps, filled with fire, rage, and hate, from their leader Atrocitus down to the very red rings they wield. Hal Jordan as Green Lantern: The Animated Series on Cartoon Network

Hal Jordan as Green Lantern: The Animated Series on Cartoon Network

Hal Jordan and Kilowog have their hands full against the combined forces of Atrocitus, the Red Lanterns, and the Manhunters. Good thing those hands are fueled with the Green Lantern Power Rings! Kilowog is always there to offer guidance to the Green Lantern of Sector 2814, which he hopes will at least keep Hal a little grounded as a Green Lantern. But living a double life as a pilot, Jordan is anything but “grounded!” This is the complexity Cartoon Network hopes to introduce with Green Lantern: The Animated Series, premiering in just a few short weeks. With other characters from the DC Comics comic book rounding out the cast, like Carol Ferris, Salaak, Sayd, Saint Walker, and Zilius Zox, it looks like we’re due for some awesome adventures! You ready? Brightest Day?

First, Batman: The Animated Series introduced the modern super hero cartoon. Warner Bros. later followed with Superman, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited. Countless others were mixed in, as well, from Teen Titans to Young Justice, but the Bruce Timm-inspired designs were always viewed as the core of the lot. …and that lot is expanding! Fans will soon get to enjoy Green Lantern: The Animated Series, as the DC Comics super hero is set to debut on Cartoon Network. But rather than wait all those additional months, Comic-Con 2011 helped usher in a sneak peek of the CG animated toon, following the Green Lantern Corps and Hal Jordan in all of their ring-slinging adventures.
