Warner Bros. shows off Batman The Brave and the Bold the videogame at E3 2010

Warner Bros. shows off Batman The Brave and the Bold the videogame at E3 2010

The 2010 Electronic Entertainment Expo was home to many new and exciting concepts, as well as cool technology like the Nintendo 3DS, but when it all comes down to it, the event was about the games. And thankfully for toon fans like us, there were a number of really well made video games with an animated series background. Take, for example, Batman The Brave and the Bold the videogame for the Nintendo Wii – a brand new 2D platformer from Warner Bros. Interactive and WayForward Technologies, based beautifully on the Cartoon Network series. The game, set to hit store shelves on September 7th, comes complete with the style and humor of the toon, and all the button-mashing, butt-kicking you can enjoy, with more than 60 heroes and villains from the DC Universe. Check out the teaser trailer!

Cartoon Network’s Young Justice

Young Justice on Cartoon Network

They’re not quite in the Justice League. They’re not quite in Teen Titans. They’re not a band of brothers like the X-Men, or singular loners like Spider-Man. They’re a collection of super heroes who sometimes feel that the whole world, not just the super villains, are against them. Tough being a teenager – though I imagine it’s easier if you could fly. Cartoon Network will soon let us find out as they unveil their newest super toon, Young Justice. The team consists of Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis; each with a relation to iconic DC Comics heroes like Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman. The Warner Bros. Animation series will stake its claim on Cartoon Network sometime soon, and is in the capable hands of Sam Register, Brandon Vietti, and Greg Weisman, who have an impressive resume between them (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman Doomsday, The Batman, Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man, W.I.T.C.H.). Marvel’s Captain American ready for the big screen, with Sebastian Stan at his side as Bucky

Marvel's Captain American ready for the big screen, with Sebastian Stan at his side as Bucky

Just a few weeks after Marvel officially announced Chris Evans will don Captain America’s mask and shield in the upcoming film The First Avenger: Captain America, the comic book company is ready to debut Cap’s sidekick, Bucky. Sebastian Stan (known for roles on Gossip Girl and Kings) will take on the role of Bucky Barnes, whose supporting character position is similar to Batman’s Robin. Stan had originally tried out for the role of Captain America, himself, but studio execs at the Disney owned company felt he was a better fit as Bucky. Filming begins this summer in Europe, with the film slated for a July 22, 2011 release. What are your thoughts on the casting?

Sorry Robin, no TV show for you

A few months ago, things were looking pretty good for Robin.  He was still famous from Teen Titans, his boss had a huge movie with The Dark Knight, and then we reported that he was getting his own show on the CW.  But now, The Graysons are over and done with.  The Smallville-like series was about Robin’s life growing up as Dick Grayson.  …at least it was going to be until it was recently scratched from the lineup and cancelled.  Sorry, Robin. 🙁

Scariest Cartoon Characters #13: Slade

Top 20 Scariest Cartoon Characters Number 13 Slade

As I’m sure the Teen Titans would agree, Slade is an amazingly powerful force – enough so to rank #13 on our list. Also known as Deathstroke in other versions, Slade Wilson is so much more than an assassin or a mercenary. In fact, his brilliance and skill make him the ultimate criminal mastermind, able to tackle the entire Titan team on his own. He is ambitious, calculating, and perhaps scariest of all, he is emotionless. His whisper of a voice is creepy beyond belief.

His evil plans most always involve destroying the Titans, and conquering the city, for no reason other than “he can”. He can manipulate characters through deceit, destroy them emotionally, defeat them in hand-to-hand combat with his blade, or just hauntingly watch over them from the shadows with his one good eye. Evil takes many forms, and each of them represents Slade perfectly. Check out the video footage of Slade at work

Nintendo Wii’s One Piece Unlimited Cruise trailers

Check out the above trailer (in Japanese) for Nintendo Wii’s new One Piece game, One Piece Unlimited Cruise.

The trailers (one above and one below the break) show Luffy in a new styled outfit instead of his Unlimited Adventure costume.  Along with Luffy, Usopp, Chopper, Nami, Zoro, Sanji, Robin, Franky and Brook will all be in the game, and all have new outfits related to animals.  Weird!  Supposedly, Brook can even … run on water now!  HA!

Check out the other trailer after the break!
