Disney Planning a Live Action Jungle Book Remake


The Hollywood Reporter has recently revealed that Disney is planning to go back to its vault and bring out one of their treasured classics, the adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, and give it a live action treatment.

According to their source, the House of Mouse is still in the process of looking for a director to head up the project, and that it will be a different kind of project from the one attempted by Stephen Sommers, which failed to have as much impact as the animated version.

DQ Entertainment’s Jungle Book Lands New Deals


Entertainment producer/distributor DQ Entertainment has recently announced a new batch of licensing and merchandising partners for their CG reimagining of the classic Rudyard Kipling yarn The Jungle Book. The most high-profile deals were signed by DQE’s partner in North America, Australia and South Africa, SMC Entertainment Group, in collaboration home video distribution licensee Phase4 Films, which has launched Jungle Book DVDs in Wal-mart stores across the U.S. with a Canadian launch coming soon.

Rudyard Kipling wrote the original Jungle Book over 100 years ago, in 1894. It wasn’t until 70 years later that Disney renewing the tale, with the classic animated film The Jungle Book. Now, DQ Entertainment is reviving the series, with a new animated collection of Maugli’s adventures. Hachette Livre will team with DQ to bring the series to the French language worldwide, helping an entirely new generation and demographic follow the story. Hachette will publish all types of products based on the series; storybooks, activity books, workbooks, novels, and even ebooks.

The bear necessities have returned! Well, maybe. There’s a brand new take on the Jungle Book hitting televisions world wide starting in a few months. DQ Entertainment International is starting the new, 3D animated adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, and has already partnered up with Disney’s Buena Vista International to broadcast it.
