Mel Blanc voices The Looney Tunes again in Daffy’s Rhapsody

Mel Blanc voices The Looney Tunes again in Daffy's Rhapsody

A few weeks back, we caught wind that Warner Bros. was bringing the Looney Tunes to the big screen. Riding high on the success of the relaunched characters in Cartoon Network’s The Looney Tunes Show, Daffy, Elmer Fudd, and other icons will be appearing in three new 3D, CG animated shorts. We’ve since learned that two of the spots, Daffy’s Rhapsody and I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat, will feature the original voice actor himself, the iconic Mel Blanc! Prior to his death in 1989, Mel Blanc spent over 50 years voicing almost every classic Looney Tunes character, from Bugs Bunny to Yosemite Sam. Now, Blanc’s unique and memorable personalities will live on, courtesy of never-before-used recordings. The first of the shorts, Daffy’s Rhapsody, will be in theaters November 18th, 2011, along with the film Happy Feet 2.

Warner Bros. Animation revives ThunderCats for Cartoon Network

Warner Bros. Animation revives Thundercats for Cartoon Network

One of the most beloved and classic franchises from the world of 1980s toons is walking-in, er, roaring-in, with a fresh coat of paint. Warner Bros. Animation has announced that they’ll be re-imagining the ThunderCats as a brand new animated series on Cartoon Network. “In addition to being Warner Bros. Animation’s first anime series, ThunderCats marks our most ambitious foray yet into fantasy,” said Sam Register, Executive Vice President, Creative Affairs, Warner Bros. Animation. The toon will be a collaboration between WBA and Studio4°C, reviving the likes of Lion-O, Snarf, Mumm-Ra, Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, WilyKat and WilyKit, Ben-Gali, Pumyra, Lynx-O, and others in the lore. Cartoon Network’s Young Justice

Young Justice on Cartoon Network

They’re not quite in the Justice League. They’re not quite in Teen Titans. They’re not a band of brothers like the X-Men, or singular loners like Spider-Man. They’re a collection of super heroes who sometimes feel that the whole world, not just the super villains, are against them. Tough being a teenager – though I imagine it’s easier if you could fly. Cartoon Network will soon let us find out as they unveil their newest super toon, Young Justice. The team consists of Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis; each with a relation to iconic DC Comics heroes like Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman. The Warner Bros. Animation series will stake its claim on Cartoon Network sometime soon, and is in the capable hands of Sam Register, Brandon Vietti, and Greg Weisman, who have an impressive resume between them (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman Doomsday, The Batman, Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man, W.I.T.C.H.).
