Fox Spoofs Attack on Titan

Not content with just a Naruto spoof, Fox’s Animation Domination High Def returns with another anime-related spoof short, this time featuring a humorous take on the massively popular Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan. In the short, Mikasa, Armin, and Eren finally come face to face with a Titan that they can’t kill, not because it’s beyond the means of their abilities as soldiers, but because it’s simply too cute to kill.

In a recent interview with White-Screen.jp, Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) creator Hajime Isayama reveals that he’s been paying close attention to the fan feedback on his groundbreaking manga/anime franchise, to the point that he has been influenced to make changes to the direction based on fan reactions.

According to Isayama, he was originally planning on an ending that is similar to the one on Frank Darabont’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist, which was bleak and depressing (even though the protagonist survived.) However, the manga-ka stated that he’s been evolving his manga with new additional elements, and that one of the big changes was the ending, and that he now wants to avoid a traumatizing ending because he didn’t want the fans to be traumatized after such an overwhelmingly positive support for the series.

Famitsu has recently posted a bunch of screenshots for the upcoming 3DS game Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind, which is based on Hajime Isayama’s manga and anime depicting a dystopian future in which mankind are hunted down and eaten by giant monsters known as Titans. The only line of defense against the titans are human soldiers who use a device called the 3D Maneuver Gear, which allow them to reach great heights while remaining agile and mobile enough to deal with a single Titan.

Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind is notable for being the first action game based on Attack on Titan, as the previous game was a visual novel. The screenshots manage to show off the 3D Maneuver Gear in action, and just like in the manga and anime, the Titans in the game need to be taken down via a swift cut to the back of the neck, allowing the players to swoop in and target specific weak points.
