Next Friday, the malevolent Dr. Blowhole returns to battle the Penguins, as Nickelodeon kicks off a new hour-long animated special The Penguins of Madagascar: Blowhole Strikes Back. Featuring the voice of Neil Patrick Harris, the Penguins versus Dr. Blowhole special will kick off at 8pm on Friday, September 9th, only on Nickelodeon. NPH will perform four new songs in the Penguins Movie Event, for even the penguins will note that he does have a surprisingly nice voice …for villainous scum. The special will also feature the voices of Andy Richter and Tom McGrath as Mort and Skipper. Want more? Check out these screen shots!

Pip joins Dangermouse and Wind in the Willow at CHF Entertainment

The creative folks behind iconic toons like Dangermouse and Wind in the Willow are back! Sure, it’s been a long break, but Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall are back in the animated game, joining up with Francis Fitzpatrick to form the super toon team of Cosgrove Hall Fitzpatrick Entertainment; CHF Entertainment, for short. One of the group’s first ventures is a new toon called Pip! Along with his uncle Skipper, Pip takes on new adventures in the seaside town of Salty Cove. CHF hopes to roll out deals for the show by the end of 2011, with plans for new toons to follow.

The Penguins of Madagascar star in DreamWorks' Madagascar spin-off

You loved them in Madagascar. You were impressed, again, in the sequel, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. You raved when Nickelodeon brought them to The Penguins of Madagascar, and have been on pins and needles waiting for their appearance in the upcoming Madagascar 3. But now, there’s a whole new reason to get excited for the grouping of Penguins, as DreamWorks Animation readies their own upcoming spin-off film! Simon Smith, of Bee Movie fame, has signed on to direct and Lara Breay, of Megamind fame, will produce the film, which will of course star Skipper, Kowalski, Private, and Rico. No date has yet been set for the Penguins’ film, but you can continue to catch them regularly on their Nickelodeon series, as well as Madagascar 3, set to hit theaters on June 8th, 2012.

Last week, Nickelodeon debuted The Penguins of Madagascar President’s Day special, Dr. Blowhole’s Revenge, earning the top ratings spot for the evening. The episode featured special guest star Neil Patrick Harris, star of “How I Met Your Mother”, as the penguins’ long-time nemesis out for revenge and to finally conquer the world. Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private face off against the malevolent Dr. Blowhole, attempting to foil his plans. The evil dolphin aims to kidnap King Julien, who Dr. Blowhole mistakenly thinks is Skipper’s best friend. Take a look at a clip of the episode right here
