Spongebob SquarePants: Bereaving The Good Years

While considering the introduction to this article, I came to realize that there is no need for an introduction. Nothing of Hillenburg’s profoundly successful series isn’t already well known by most of the world. Spongebob has taken the world by storm, and has remained at the top of the childrens’ cartoon game for years– likely to not change for some time, especially with the talk of the next feature-length motion picture in the works. But the success of Spongebob SquarePants is only a small part of this article. What I plan to discuss here is the development of the series, and what it has become today: Is Spongebob still as great as it once was?

Kingdom Hearts 3D for Nintendo 3DS has The World Ends With You cameo

Fans of Square Enix and Disney’s Kingdom Hearts series are incredibly loyal to their story lines and their characters. Through the years, they’ve seen many chapters come and go, always with mascots from the House of Mouse, but there’s always an urge to return to what they’ve enjoyed in the past. Truth be told Tetsuya Nomura, the game’s producer, often feels the same, revealing he’d love to see Neku Sakuraba from The World Ends With You. So will Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance deliver on that? What will this mean for a future series or sidequest? Check out the latest trailer for the Nintendo 3DS game and let us know what you think!

After the events of Kingdom Hearts II, and the Battle with Xemnas, Sora, Riku and Kairi take some time to relax on Destiny Islands. Meanwhile, Jiminy Cricket spends his time chronicling the events from the first game when he notices a line he didn’t remember writing. It seems a number of things in Jiminy’s journal have the power to create themselves spontaneously, as the gang will soon learn, spiraling through virtual levels of locations they’ve already visited in earlier game titles. There’s Destiny Islands, Traverse Town, Alice’s Wonderland, Olympus Coliseum, Agrabah, and Hollow Bastion to name a few, in addition to Disney’s Castle. Along for the ride are King Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, the Heartless, Maleficent, Pete, and many other heroes and villains from Disney’s catalog. And now, the game can be yours, as Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded hits shelves in the US on January 11th; January 14th in the UK.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep September 7th

Although the game was supposed to arrive a bit earlier, the latest chapter in the Square Enix Kingdom Hearts franchise, Birth by Sleep, has received an official release date in the US of September 7th. The game has been out for a few months already in Japan, and will also appear in European markets later this year. Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep has been billed by director Tetsuya Nomura as “Episode 0”, meaning it’s as important to the series as Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. The game, designed for Sony’s PSP and PSP-3000 systems, anticipates as much success as the recent Nintendo DS chapter Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, bringing out some big guns for voice actors, including Mark Hamill, Willa Holland, Jesse McCartney, James Woods and Leonard Nimoy.
