ThunderCats reborn on Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network just had themselves a litter – the ThunderCats are back! The toon made famous with vintage 80’s mutant superhero style is back, re-imagined for a whole new era, set to debut “soon” on the CN. Along with Warner Bros., Studio4°C has breathed new life into classic icons like Lion-O, Cheetara, Mumm-Ra, Panthro, and the rest of the hero and villain teams you remember, as well as new ones you always wanted. Getting the hype-train rolling, The producers have begun rolling out teaser artwork. Check it out along with the latest press release. …and… “hoooooo!!”

Cartoon Network’s Young Justice

Young Justice on Cartoon Network

They’re not quite in the Justice League. They’re not quite in Teen Titans. They’re not a band of brothers like the X-Men, or singular loners like Spider-Man. They’re a collection of super heroes who sometimes feel that the whole world, not just the super villains, are against them. Tough being a teenager – though I imagine it’s easier if you could fly. Cartoon Network will soon let us find out as they unveil their newest super toon, Young Justice. The team consists of Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian, and Artemis; each with a relation to iconic DC Comics heroes like Batman, Aquaman, Flash, Superman, Martian Manhunter, and Wonder Woman. The Warner Bros. Animation series will stake its claim on Cartoon Network sometime soon, and is in the capable hands of Sam Register, Brandon Vietti, and Greg Weisman, who have an impressive resume between them (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman Doomsday, The Batman, Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man, W.I.T.C.H.). Take a look at the teaser poster!

Sorry Robin, no TV show for you

A few months ago, things were looking pretty good for Robin.  He was still famous from Teen Titans, his boss had a huge movie with The Dark Knight, and then we reported that he was getting his own show on the CW.  But now, The Graysons are over and done with.  The Smallville-like series was about Robin’s life growing up as Dick Grayson.  …at least it was going to be until it was recently scratched from the lineup and cancelled.  Sorry, Robin. 🙁

Scariest Cartoon Characters #13: Slade

Top 20 Scariest Cartoon Characters Number 13 Slade

As I’m sure the Teen Titans would agree, Slade is an amazingly powerful force – enough so to rank #13 on our list. Also known as Deathstroke in other versions, Slade Wilson is so much more than an assassin or a mercenary. In fact, his brilliance and skill make him the ultimate criminal mastermind, able to tackle the entire Titan team on his own. He is ambitious, calculating, and perhaps scariest of all, he is emotionless. His whisper of a voice is creepy beyond belief.

His evil plans most always involve destroying the Titans, and conquering the city, for no reason other than “he can”. He can manipulate characters through deceit, destroy them emotionally, defeat them in hand-to-hand combat with his blade, or just hauntingly watch over them from the shadows with his one good eye. Evil takes many forms, and each of them represents Slade perfectly. Check out the video footage of Slade at work
