A new CG animated series based on the classic international kids’ series Calimero will be debuting in France via TF1 on February 9, 2014. The new series will feature the loveable little black chicken, which was created by Nino and Toni Pagot, and Ignazio Colnaghi.

The new Calimero series will consist of 14 x 11 minute episodes and will also air on Italy’s RAI, Germany’s Super RTL, Disney Junior, TV Tokyo, Tele Quebec, and TSR in Swtizerland. The original series ran for 290 episodes and aired in more than 80 countries.

“We are eager for the new Calimero series to conquer the hearts of a whole new generation in the same way the original character had in our youth” said Gaumont Animation Managing Director Pierre Belaisch.

Oscar's Oasis has Cake Entertainment's global touch

Cake Entertainment sounds like such a delicious name. But the creator of Skunk Fu!, Stoked, Angelo Rules, Total Drama Island, Total Drama Action, Total Drama World Tour, and Word Girl doesn’t just sit around and wait for people to visit and try to eat their wonderful name. No, the production company is constantly hard at work on new toons, and bringing those toons worldwide. Take for example their new show, Oscar’s Oasis. Working with TeamTO, Tuba Entertainment, and TF1, Cake will bring Oscar’s Oasis to Cartoon Network Latin America, PT Cipta TPI in Indonesia, Societe Radio Canada, 2×2 Channel, YLE, ATV, S4C Wales, SVT, QTV, MBC, and SFDRS. Is Oscar coming your way?

DQ Entertainment's Casper's Scare School ghouls up Cartoon Network Halloween

Not this Halloween, sadly. But next year’s spooky Halloween holiday will prominently feature Casper the friendly ghost as the translucent hero appears in Casper’s Scare School. The DQ Entertainment animated series is working with Moonscoop Group and Classic Media to develop the 3D and CG toon, set to also premiere in France on TF1. The second season will reach American audiences on Cartoon Network by Halloween 2011, which seems pretty appropriate, timing-wise!

Nelvana Enterprises reveals Franklin and Friends

Based on Brenda Clark and Paulette Bourgeois’ book series Franklin the Turtle, Franklin and Friends is Nelvana Enterprises’ latest gift to the animated world. The toon stars Franklin the Turtle, a young little reptile who can famously count by twos and tie his shoes. He lives life not unlike many of us; he goes to school, hangs out with his friends, and heads out on adventures wherever possible – imaginary or otherwise! Nelvana’s latest toon, co-produced by Alphanim, Lux Animation, Nelvana Limited, Neurohouse, Reader’s Digest for Young Families, TF1, and PolyGram Television, is all part of Franklin’s 25th anniversary, which kicks off next year. Hopefully, there’s some shoofly pie in it for him!

TF1 and Marathon Media team for Rekkit Rabbit season 2 on Disney Channel

TF1 and Marathon Media team for Rekkit Rabbit season 2 on Disney Channel

So, there’s this 10 foot rabbit named Rekkit, see? Well, he wasn’t always that large – he used to be the standard magician’s assistant in Chakabrak, but, let’s just say he had enough of that. Now, he just spends his days getting into adventure (and trouble) with his best pal Jay Shmufton, who helps Rekkit deal with his magical abilities. Created by Marathon Media, Zodiak, Reid Harrisson and Mitch Watson, Rekkit Rabbit is being picked up for a second season by TF1 in addition to premiering on Europe’s Disney Channel. There’s no knowing what’s going to happen when you’ve got a rabbit that sleepeats his friends, sneezes Scottish hamsters and can’t seem to get a spell right – but it’s going to be fun finding out!

Patoon Animation and Cyber Group team for Grenadine and Peppermint

Patoon Animation and Cyber Group team for Grenadine and Peppermint

What could possibly make a more loving set of friends than a rambunctious Inuit girl and a quasi-super hero penguin? Nothing, so says the producers behind the flash animated series Grenadine and Peppermint. The Patoon Animation toon, based on the Editions MILAN books by Colonel Moutarde, is gearing up for its debut later next year. So far, TF1 has signed up to air the adventures. Grenadine is the young Eskimo, whose energy and curiosity typically lead to mischief. Thankfully, her friend Peppermint the penguin has all the right stuff to serve as her personal super hero. Cyber Group has since picked up the distribution rights elsewhere, potentially bringing the duo to a TV near you.
