Nickelodeon and Playmates Reveal 2014 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Toy Line

Riding high on the success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series, Nickelodeon has recently partnered with Playmates Toys in order to develop the 2014 toy expansion for the TMNT franchise. The toy line was revealed during the American International Toy Fair in New York City, which ran from February 16 to 19.

2013 saw the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as the number one action figure property and ranked among the top ten properties across the entire toy industry, and the 2014 collection looks set to repeat the achievement via two brand new products, including the Z-Line Ninja Playsets, which introduces a zip-line adventure Turtle action figures, and Half-Shell Heroes, small and rounded action figures and playsets designed and safety-tested for the youngest Turtles fans.

Spongebob Squarepants Toy and Activity Lineup Unveiled at NY Toy Fair 2014

Nickelodeon has recently launched a broad new lineup of toys and merchandise based on their hit Spongebob Squarepants property, during the 2014 New York Toy Fair, which was ran from February 16 to 19. The new line of products consist of plushies, collectible figures, and even role play toys from master toy licensee Just Play, playsets from Fisher-Price®’s Imaginext® brand; remote control and kid powered vehicles from NKOK, Inc. and building sets from recently announced, global construction toy licensee, MEGA Bloks.

A few weeks back, we got our first look at the new ThunderCats show in action. Shortly after, Bandai revealed some early prototype shots and designs of the ThunderCats toys and action figures, of both the original 1980s series and Cartoon Network’s upcoming recreation. Now, we’ve scored a product demo movie that shows what some of the toys look like in 3D – better yet, how they’ll look on your shelves when all is said and done! New ThunderCats toys debut at Toy Fair 2011

Feel the magic, feel the roar, the 21st century re-imagining of the iconic 1980s action toon, the ThunderCats, is already making big headlines. Not only is the new series gearing up for a launch on Cartoon Network sometime in the next few months, but now there’s already deep development of the toys to discuss! Bandai America Incorporated is working with Warner Bros. on a magnetic action figure toy line based on the new toon that will activate various actions and sound effects when the figures interact with others. Bandai is also unleashing a line of “Classic Figures” with models and designs based on the original series. In addition, Icon Hero will create 6-inch statue collectibles, while Hard Hero will mold limited-edition porcelain statues. Mezco also gets in on the action, designing vinyl figures in the form of Lion-O, Panthro, Tigra, Cheetara and more.

Gormiti: The Lords of Nature hits Nintendo Wii and Nintend DS

Konami is bringing Gormiti fans with a Nintendo Wii or Nintendo DS a treat; their upcoming Gormiti: The Lords of Nature video game. The game recently made its first appearance at Toy Fair 2010, in Germany. The game is targeting a fall release this year, using characters and locations from Marathon and Giochi Prezios’s animated TV series, recreating the island of Gorm. There, the Lords of Earth, Sea, Air and Forest are charged with stopping the evil Magmion from wreaking havoc. The game also includes 40 minutes of animated scenes voiced by actors from the show. Disney and Pixar have a great thing on their hands. They’ve been teaming together for 15 years or so on the Toy Story franchise, producing a movie about toys, then selling toys based on the movie. A self-fulfilling prophecy. There’s a Mr. Potato Head, a cowboy, a cowgirl, an intergalactic hero, slinky dog, piggy bank, dinosaur… and in this third movie, Toy Story 3, there’s an all-new group of toys to add to the mix! The film is set to hit theaters June 18th, and the actual toys will be in that same range. Check out the full list

Now, tell me this; what kind of horrible super villain would you have to be to want to hurt these guys? I mean, look at them! They’re adorable!! They make you just want to pick them up and give them hugs and make sure these super heroes have super days. This plush team of hero collectibles was recently shown off at Toy Fair 2010 this year, in a group fashion of Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and the Flash, iconic figures from the Cartoon Network animated series Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Packaged together as a “Justice League” (of love!) this collector set hopes to hit toy store shelves (and your heart!) later this year. …and… just one more time; “awwwwwwww!!!”

He-Man versus Superman at Toy Fair 2010

He-Man; super-strong good guy. Superman; super-strong good guy. We can all see the connection, so Mattel decided to capitalize on it and just partner the two up! Mattel is bringing their new action figure line of Masters of the Universe Classics to retail, paired up with DC Comics characters. The new figures, sculpted by Four Horsemen, have the look and feel of the original cartoon from the 1980s, but with modern style and craftsmanship. And, what’s more, they’ll be packaged in with 6″ DC Universe Classic action figures. The first 2-pack from this line will of course be Superman and He-Man, as the two stand toe-to-toe as they’ve done before, in DC Comics Presents #47. This might be the most perfect compilation we have ever seen. Mr. Potato Head, clad in metallic superhero armor, ready to do battle and fight evil as Tony Starch, the Iron Spud. Taking cues from Marvel’s upcoming Iron Man sequel, Iron Man 2, and Disney and Pixar’s upcoming Toy Story sequel, Toy Story 3, this latest Mr. Potato Head toy is the ultimate collaboration. We’ve been waiting to get some signs of the Marvel / Disney deal, and this could very well be the best, if not just the first. The item made its appearance at Toy Fair 2010, and will make another on our ToonBarn office shelf the very second it becomes available to the public. You want one, too?

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on DVDSnow White will be returning as top Disney princess later this year, as Disney re-releases Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on DVD!  Disney has unveiled a number of new Snow White toys at this year’s Toy Fair that have confirmed the movie will be re-released.  The schedule so far has the movie hitting Blu-ray hi-def and DVD later this fall, along with a number of new toys and accessories from Disney.

Yu-Gi-Oh! comes to Toy Fair

Yu-Gi-Oh! comes to Toy FairToy Fair is the biggest toy event of the year (other than the winter holidays, of course!) and this year, Konami is bringing something big! Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. will be showcasing the big gun; its Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game. What they will bring or offer, is not yet known. Could be starter decks, could be highlighted collectibles. But whatever it is, it’s Yu-Gi-Oh!
