Bin Weevils scores big with Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network

Bin Weevils scores big with Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network

One of the coolest aspects about TV today is Video on Demand becoming more and more available. This means, just like looking something up on the internet (even sweet sites like ToonBarn!) you can now tell your TV what you want to watch, and your TV has to listen to you. No fighting, no talking back, it just spits out the content for your entertainment. Bin Weevils is new to the VOD game, but started off in the perfect way, adding tons of shows from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. This means direct access to lots of toons like Ben 10, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Secret Saturdays, Chowder, iCarly and more. And Bin Weevils isn’t done there! The company plans to add more content from popular cartoon sources, including Cake Entertainment and Decode. What would be on your perfect Video on Demand network?

4Kids brings Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s: Road to Destiny around the globe

4Kids brings Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's: Road to Destiny around the globe

Yu-Gi-Oh! has long since become one of the most popular franchises of all time, launching first as the anime series in Japan. Since debuting in America, the phenomenon exploded, catching on as a trading card game (TCG), video games, books, posters, etc. The series even eventually broke out into sequels and other series, like Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and later Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s. Now, 4Kids Entertainment is bringing the series to more places, including RTL2 in Germany and Mediaset in Italy – both providing a home in Europe to Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s: Road to Destiny; Televix Entertainment aims to do the same in Latin America. In the US, the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s toon also returns to TheCW4Kids Saturday morning block on May 29th, as well as appearing daily on Cartoon Network. That’s some great staying power!

Toei and Orange bring us Captain Harlock and Ken the Great Bear Fist

Toei and Orange bring us Captain Harlock and Ken the Great Bear Fist

French fans of anime have a lot to be happy for! Orange recently with Toei Animation Europe to bring two hit animated series to their Video on Demand feature; Captain Harlock and Ken the Great Bear Fist. Captain Harlock, also known as Captain Herlock, is as noble as he is rebellious, fighting against earth-born and alien regimes. Created by manga artist Leiji Matsumoto for 1953’s Adventures of a Honeybee, Harlock took the lead in 1978’s Space Pirate Captain Harlock. The character has appeared in Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey, and re-imagined as an Iron Cross fighter pilot and a gunslinger in the Old West. Ken, the Great Bear Fist, also known as Fist of the North Star, is Buronson and Tetsuo Hara’s manga series, later serialized by Shonen Jump and Shueisha. The story centers around Kenshiro, dedicating his life to fight those who threaten the lives of the weak and innocent through his fighting style, Hokuto Shinken. Anyone a fan of either?

The Secret Life of Suckers

The Secret Life of Suckers

The Secret Life of Suckers is a new 3D animated comedy series making its way to Jetix Europe in early 2009 – just a couple of months from now.  The show, from BRB Internacional and Genoma Animation, will also be available on the website’s VOD player.  The Secret Life of Suckers follows a group of toys tired of their dull lives stuck to car windows.  I dunno about that… hanging from a car window sounds pretty relaxing to me 🙂   Stay Tooned to the Barn for more info on this show!
