Nickelodeon Reveals New Slate of Educational Preschool Shows for 2014-2015

Nickelodeon has recently announced that they will premire more than 100 episodes of brand new educational preschool shows within the network’s 2014 to 2015 season, making it their biggest pipeline of content ever.

Aside from the newly-launched Wallykazam!, the upcoming Dora and Friends: Into the city! And Blaze & the Monster Machines, Nickelodeon will also be adding two more newly approved series to their preschool slate: Shimmer & Shine and Fresh Beat Band of Spies. The former focuses on twin genies-in-training and the latter is the animated version of the live action series The Fresh Beat Band.
“This season, we are introducing Nickelodeon’s biggest pipeline of content for every demo and in every genre,” said Cyma Zarghami, President, Nickelodeon Group. “Our preschool slate reinforces Nickelodeon’s standing as the best place for shows that are both smart and fun, powered by great stories, relatable characters and a meaningful curriculum that has been our hallmark.”

Nickelodeon Wins First Week of March as Top Cable Net for Kids 2-11

Nickelodeon is currently celebrating a healthy first week of March, as they have managed to rank as the number one basic cable net amongst kids aged 2 to 11 (2.9/915K) and total viewers (1.7M), scoring the top kids’ shows in animation and preschool.

Nickelodeon managed to land the top four animated series with kids aged 2 to 11 for the week, headlined by Spongebob SquarePants (5.1/1.6M), followed by Sanjay and Craig (5.0/1.6M), Breadwinners (4.5/1.4M) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (4.2/1.3M). In addition, SpongeBob SquarePants and Sanjay and Craig ranked as the overall top two programs with Kids 2-11 for the week. SpongeBob SquarePants was also the week’s number-one kids’ program with total viewers (3.4M).

Nickelodeon to Debut Wallykazam on February

This coming February 3, at 1 PM on Nickelodeon, preschoolers will get the chance to discover the magic of words as the network launches the brand new animated preschool series Wallykazam! The show focuses on the adventures of a troll named Wally and his pet dragon, Norville, who both live in a forest with other magical creatures such as giants, goblins, ogres, and sprites. Wally can use his magic stick in order to bring words to life on a screen that starts with a specific letter, sound or rhyme. Each episode features a new set of magic words that Wally uses to playfully transform the world around him.

Wallykazam! Is the first preschool series in Nickelodeon that uses a literacy curriculum framed by a full-length story. The curriculum includes skills such as letter and sound identification, rhyming, vocabulary development and comprehension strategies.
