This coming August 4, kids and families who love to watch educational and highly entertaining word-fueled adventures will need to stay tuned to PBS Kids as the Emmy Award-winning animated series from Scholastic Media, WordGirl, returns for its seventh season.

Season 7 of WordGirl will be heralded by a week of five “brain-ier” than ever episodes – each one inviting kids to join WordGirl and her friends as they battle the “cheesy” tactics and dastardly tricks of the local villain, Dr. Two Brains, while expanding their vocabulary along the way.

The Emmy award-winning kids series WordGirl is scheduled to devote an episode to teaching kids how to stand against bullying. The one hour episode, entitled “The Rise of Miss Power”, will feature the voice talent of Glee’s Jane Lynch, and will tackle the subject of words’ ability to both help and harm people. The episode will air on PBS Kids GO on February 20, 2012.

Tomorrow, on Labor Day, Monday September 5th, PBS Kids Go! will get a special guest visit from world renowned weather man Al Roker! The star of NBC’s The Today Show will drop by in animated form in a new episode of WorldGirl, ready to help with the new Word of the Month: Meteorologist. With all of his Meteorologing (which will never be the world of the month, btw) over the years, Al Roker was absolutely the perfect selection for the featured episode, Sonny Days with a Chance of Showers. Don’t miss it; the forecast says it will be great!

Starting October 25th, your PBS Kids favorites will be getting into the … “spirit”. Arthur, Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman, and Martha Speaks will all debut new episodes, and each of them will be Halloween-themed, perfectly timed for the holiday arriving a week later. Neil Gaiman, legendary creepy comic book writer, and also the driving force behind Coraline, will be penning the Arthur episode. WordGirl, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George, Super Why!, Sid The Science Kid, and WordWorld will also be getting in on the spooky fun, with ghastly styled episodes. A good treat from the PBS folks.

Despite the efforts of the villainous Dr. Two-Brains, it doesn’t seem like anything can stop WordGirl! The popular Scholastic Media series will be returning for yet another season, chock-full of 26 brand new episodes. The PBS toon, produced by Soup2Nuts, follows the adventures of Becky Botsford and her alternate identity, WordGirl. With the aid of Captain HuggyFace, evil is stopped time and time again, regardless of its quest for world domination. Since it’s debut in 2007, more than 135 episodes have been created for the series, with less than half airing on TV. That means the stockpiling treasure of WordGirl could be entertaining us for generations!

WordGirl season 3 debuts on PBS Kids Go September 13

We are officially less than one week away from the start of WordGirl season 3! The new episodes of the PBS Kids Go! toon are set to debut on Monday, September 13th, featuring a voiceover cast filled with special guests; Kristen Schaal (from Toy Story 3), John Henson, Jeffrey Tambor, Tom Kenny (from SpongeBob SquarePants), and John C. McGinley. Amongst the returning case, be sure to note Dannah Phirman as WordGirl, Chris Parnell as the Narrator, and Maria Bamford (from Kick Buttowski) as Mrs. Botsford. The Soup2Nuts production, part of Scholastic’s animation team, stars Becky Bostford, an alien girl whose alternate identity is that of WordGirl. Captain Huggy Face joins her in Fair City, fighting villains like the Butcher, Granny May, Dr. Two Brains, Tobey McCalister, and The Whammer.

Word up, it’s WordGirl! The Emmy-Award winning PBS series WordGirl is coming to save Earth Day. On March 30th, Paramount and PBS Kids will team together to bring the world WordGirl Earth Day Girl on DVD. The disc is packed with eight adventures, games, and featurettes, and a number of other bonuses included. Becky Botsford, aka WordGirl; the super hero with a super vocabulary is ready to prove crime doesn’t pay, uses flight, super strength, and her rocket home base to help in her mission to educate villains who speak improperly – and entertain thousands of fans at home.
