Fox Planning a New X-Men TV Show

According to a new report from Bleeding Cool, Fox is currently mulling over plans to develop a new TV series based on the X-Men franchise. Only this time, it’s not going to be in animated form (man, I miss that old 90s cartoon.) – Fox is considering a live-action series. If the report is true, then it means Fox is approaching the comic book properties that they still have with the same strategy as Marvel’s, although Marvel will be airing theirs on Netflix.

X-Men: Apocalypse May Feature a Bald James McAvoy

One of the key defining aspects of Professor X is that he’s bald. It’s a bit shallow, but yes. When people say Professor X, you imagine a bald man on a floating chair. In the first two films in the rebooted X-Men series, James McAvoy managed to work the role effectively despite sporting a full head of hair, mainly because he’s portraying Charlex Xavier in his heady…erm…younger days and because you really can’t find any fault with his acting skill.

However, times may be about to change and we might see McAvoy portray a bald Xavier. The info came from the actor himself, who revealed that he’s portraying an older version in X-Men: Apocalypse:

The X-Men Meets the Avengers in Marvel Disk Wars Anime Series

The current mess that is the movie rights to Marvel’s comic book properties (majority of which is currently split between 20th Fox, Sony, and Marvel with a few overlaps on some characters) means that a big-screen crossover between earth’s mightiest heroes and the children of the atom “ain’t gonna happen soon.” However, the picture changes when it comes to anime, as Toei’s Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers anime series will soon pit the X-Men against the Avengers via the X-Men Edition storyline.

Simon Kinberg Explains Decision to Cut Rogue’s Part from Days of Future Past

It was previously reported and confirmed that Rogue, played by Anna Paquin, was originally part of a subplot in Bryan Singer’s upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past but was cut off after the subplot was deemed unnecessary (and would have extended the runtime to more than 2 and a half hours.) The film’s screenwriter and producer, Simon Kinberg, has also chimed in and explained in greater detail why the scenes had to be cut from the finished script:

New Images of Bishop and Mystique from Days of Future Past Released

Bishop

In case you’re getting tired of all the image teasers featuring Magneto, Professor X in their various permutations (young or old, bald or bearded, costumed or non-costumed), the newest set of images released will at least give you something more refreshing to look at, as it features the never before seen Bishop (played by Omar Sy) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence’s version)

Deadpool Movie Adaptation Getting Closer to Reality

Back when X-Men Origins: Wolverine first landed on the big screens, one of the things that had comic book fans wetting their jammies in excitement was a potential Deadpool spin-off, due to Ryan Reynold’s portrayal of the merc with a mouth (which was well-received, despite being only a few minutes long) and because of the end-credits teaser.

However, the possibility of a Deadpool movie started fading after some wishy-washiness on the part of Fox and was finally laid to rest when Ryan Reynolds was cast as Hal Jordan in DC’s adaptation of Green Lantern, because it would be awkward for Hal Jordan to suddenly become Wade Wilson in his own movie, and mainly because Green Lantern bombed so hard that people were no longer excited at the prospect of seeing Ryan Reynolds in another comic book movie.

However, in a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies, Ryan Reynolds revealed that there’s still a chance that the Deadpool movie will push through, and they are making sure to approach everything carefully in order to sell the studio in on the idea:

Quicksilver to Appear in X-Men Sequel, According to Bryan Singer

Quicksilver to Appear in X-Men Sequel, According to Bryan Singer

X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer recently announced on his Twitter account that American Horror Story star Even Peters will be playing Quicksilver in his upcoming sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past. The news is generating a lot of buzz among fans lately, mainly because Joss Whedon has already revealed that the next Avengers movie will include mutant siblings Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

The news is interesting because X-Men: Days of Future Past is a Fox movie, while Avengers is a Disney/Marvel one (the three big studios that have movie rights to major Marvel properties right now are Fox, Sony, and Disney/Marvel). Fans are currently wondering on how Fox and Marvel can reconcile the two different versions of Quicksilver.
