On July 2nd, a mere 6 weeks from now, Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures will bring The Last Airbender to the big screen. The film is M. Night Shyamalan’s live action representation of Nick’s Avatar: the Last Airbender animated series, an American anime with manga style. As an added little bonus, and largely due to the amazing success of … well… every film that has come out in the past year or so, The Last Airbender is getting the 3D treatment. The movie promises to delight on all three dimensions now, reaching out into the audience, as long as you’re wearing those neat little glasses. What’s your thoughts on the whole “everything must be 3D” trend? It worked well for the other Avatar – do you think it will click with Nickelodeon’s version?

With only another few months until the July 2 release date of M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender movie, it was only a matter of time before the official video game companion was revealed. In steps THQ and Nintendo, working together on exclusive games for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo DSi systems, hitting stores just days before the Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon live-action movie. Like the film, the game will be based on the stylings of the anime storyline, letting players master their “bending” skills and play as either Aang or Zuko, acting out scenes from the movie.

One way to instantly mark how fun a franchise is; the toys! Nickelodeon has had tremendous success with their Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series, as well as the action figures based on the manga-styled American anime cartoon. Up for grabs at this point are the toys and playsets that will be based on the upcoming film, The Last Airbender, which offers a live-action and varied take on the Nick toon. The movie, created by Paramount and M. Night Syamalan, will partner with Spin Master for the toyline, including 10 inch action figures of the main characters like Aang, Zuko, Katara, and Shokka, as well as an Appa (the flying bison) that smaller versions of the figures can fit on. There will also be versions of Aang’s staff weapon, for those looking for a new toy, or upcoming Halloween costume! Avatar’s ‘Zuko’ now has a face

Avatar's 'Zuko' now has a faceM. Night Shyamalan’s upcoming live action film, Avatar: The Last Airbender, based on the popular Nickelodeon anime title, has finally found someone worthy of portraying Zuko.  Dev Patel, star of the recent hit Slumdog Millionaire, will take on the role of the Fire Nation’s evil Zuko, which was originally to be played by Jesse McCartney until schedule conflicts arose. The Last Airbender will be in theaters July 2nd, 2010.

The internet has spoken! Buzz is all around that M. Night Shyamalan has begun casting roles his upcoming, live-action film, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”.  The movie, which is based on Nickelodeon’s animated super-hit series, has already cast Aang, Sokka, Katara, and maybe even Zuko.  So exciting!  The flick will hit theaters in July of 2010, but it’s good to hear progress is already being made.
