It’s finally here! Back on February 25th, we covered the Red Carpet for the Teen Titans Go! 200th Episode and the staff at Warner Bros Animation were happy to have a party to celebrate this amazing milestone. Now, fast forward 9 months and the 200th Episode baby is BORN! The World Premiere of “The Self-Indulgent 200th Episode Spectacular, Parts 1 & 2” is airing on Cartoon Network at 6 PM EST on Friday, November 24th. Don’t miss it!

In this article, we’ll quickly recall our Red Carpet interviews with the voice cast and producers of Teen Titans Go!, we’ll check out some pictures and a clip from the 200th episode, and we’ll give a mostly spoiler-free review of this truly outrageous and totally self-indulgent milestone episode.

If you haven’t already, check out our Red Carpet Interviews taken by ToonBarn Head Writer Marc Morrell back in February, with Tara Strong and her husband Craig, Greg Cipes, Scott Menville, Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, Billy Regan, and Mix Master Mike!

It was great to see the cast and crew having fun away from making the show, for a change. You could tell they had been working at an “aggressive rate” to crank out these 200 episodes over the last few years. But, at the hectic schedule they keep, it shouldn’t be too long before we’re celebrating the 300th episode!

This 200th Episode really is Self-Indulgent, as the Teen Titans characters actually come face-to-face with the people who make their show, like the voice cast, producers (and some of the family members of the producers), animators, directors and character designers, and you get to see the Teen Titans try to make their own episode. Hint: they should leave the episode creation to the Producers, Actors and Animators from Warner Bros Animation. Just a suggestion.

Here is a clip from the 200th episode, where the Teen Titans meet their voice counterparts, and it is so surreal to see Beast Boy talk to Greg Cipes, Raven to Tara Strong, Robin to Scott Menville, Starfire to Hynden Walch, and Cyborg to Khary Payton. Incredible!

We love all the inside jokes that are part of this 2-part 200th Episode Spectacular, and the way the actors behave in that clip is no acting. That’s how they really are. Hynden is camera shy, and Tara and Greg are really active on social media, sharing personal pics and videos with their fans.

Producer Pete Michail wrote and sang a new song at the end of the 2nd part, which really drives home the message that they are always “Workin’ on an episode” at Teen Titans Go! and closed it out with Executive Producer, Sam Register.

When you get to see all the people who work on the show in this episode, as well as Michael Jelenic‘s (JellyNeck?) Dad and Aaron Horvath‘s son, and it’s all wrapped up with fart jokes galore, AND you can see references to real things that fans would understand (the picture that used to be the Teen Titans Go! mural on the Warner Bros studio lot), it’s easy to see why they chose this route, instead of looking back on all the characters that have made us laugh through all previous 199 episodes.

It’s been fun to watch Teen Titans Go! and see it’s meteoric rise to the #1 spot on Cartoon Network. We wish them a less aggressive schedule in the future, and maybe some time off once in a while, but please understand that this cast and crew is not by any means replaceable.

I just have a few notes: LOUDER! LOUDER!! LOUDER!!!!!

Sometimes, the universe opens up and shines its light on something pure and magical. If you’re one of the lucky ones to be able to experience all that the cosmos has to offer, you may have felt the tremor when B.E.R. wrote The Night Begins to Shine, an 80s-style rock anthem that has become a song of hope and inspiration to millions around the world.

You see, the song itself, after it had been written, may have stirred that aforementioned tremor for those that could sense it. However, the song was placed in a music library, and sat for many years, not knowing that a day would come when it could spread its wings and fly.

And it flew… to the highest pinnacle of the heavens… and even alternate dimensions!

Imagine opening the Ark of the Covenant, and instead of releasing a dark evil that creates a scourge over all the land, this song released waves of colored light that poured through the heart of every man, woman and child, and inspired people to strength, creativity and love. That’s what happened when the Producers of Teen Titans Go! (Pete Michail, Aaron Horvath, and Michael Jelenic) opened up the music library and found The Night Begins to Shine by B.E.R. and started using it in their show.

Combine the song with the Teen Titans, CeeLo Green, Fallout Boy, and B.E.R. themselves, all joining forces to stop the tyranny of an evil dragon, all in an animation style that hearkens back to the Heavy Metal days of the early 80s, and you have the makings of a worldwide phenomenon that people will continue to cherish for years to come.

On Billboard’s charts, B.E.R.‘s The Night Begins to Shine bowed at No. 23 on the Hot Rock Songs chart, dated Aug. 26, 2017, as the ranking’s Hot Shot Debut (for the week’s highest new entry), with around two-thirds of its chart points attributed to digital song sales; the track debuts at No. 7 on the Rock Digital Song Sales and Alternative Digital Song Sales charts with 7,000 downloads sold (up 76 percent) in the week ending Aug. 10, according to Nielsen Music.

We have been blessed to make the acquaintance of B.E.R. and we caught up with all 3 of them at New York Comic Con (NYCC).  Here is your chance to meet Carl Burnett (B), Frank Enea (E) and Billy Regan (R) in their new uniforms depicting their characters from Teen Titans Go! Their story is here, for all to enjoy…

In the video, Billy mentions “Walk with Edith”. Edith Clarke is a six-year-old girl who, at 20 months old, was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy Spastic Diplegia. Due to the generous donations of many caring individuals, Edith was able to get a procedure in January 2017 called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, which helped alleviate the chronic spacticity and pain. Edith now continues to push through her post-op therapy sessions, and she’s been motivated by listening to The Night Begins to Shine.

Exclusive! ToonBarn readers are getting a special treat today, because Teen Titans Go! celebrated 200 Episodes last weekend at the Arts District Brewery in Los Angeles, California, which included red carpet interviews with cast and crew.

The whole Warner Bros Animation and Cartoon Network Teen Titans Go! crew were there, including Sam Register (Warner Bros Animation President), Rob Sorcher (Cartoon Network Chief Content Officer), Aaron Horvath (Producer), Michael Jelenic (Producer), Pete Michal (Producer), Hynden Walsh (Starfire), Scott Menville (Robin), Tara Strong (Raven), Greg Cipes (Beast Boy), Mix Master Mike (Re-mixed Teen Titans Go! theme song), Billy Reagan (one of 3 songwriters for “The Night Begins to Shine”), and hundreds more people who have contributed to all 200 episodes of Teen Titans Go! on Cartoon Network.

In this first video, you’ll see the voice actors for 3 of the 5 titans, namely, Scott Menville (Robin), Tara Strong (Raven) and her husband, Craig, and finally, Greg Cipes (Beast Boy). We even threw in some footage from the show to provide context around some of the things mentioned in the interviews. Enjoy these exclusive interviews you won’t find anywhere else:

In this second video, you’ll see a surprise interview with Mix Master Mike (yes, from Beastie Boys!), who re-mixed the original theme song to the current one you see at the beginning of every episode on Cartoon Network. Another surprise interview is Billy Reagan, the singer and one of the writers for “The Night Begins to Shine“, which was featured on the Teen Titans GO! episode, “40%, 40%, 20%”. Plus, you’ll see interviews with Teen Titans Go! Producers Michael Jelenic and Aaron Horvath. Michael gives a hint about what we can expect to see in the actual 200th episode, which might not appear on Cartoon Network until Fall 2017. Aaron lets us know what might be featured in a Teen Titans Go! panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Again, this is an exclusive interview you won’t see anywhere else:

Congratulations to everyone at Warner Bros Animation, who work hard every day to keep churning out episode after episode of Teen Titans Go! for all the fans who love to watch it on Cartoon Network! Hopefully, we’ll be back to capture all the festivities when Teen Titans Go! celebrates 300, 400, and 500 episodes.

It’s no secret that a lot of people hate Teen Titans GO!, judging by some of the comments that crop up on Toonbarn posts about the show. Or It doesn’t even need to come from Toonbarn – just do a search and you’ll find many complaints about the show.

However, the show is very popular and very profitable – it is one of the highest ranking shows on CN right now and it’s got merchandise up the wazoo. Of course, popularity and sales isn’t always an objective measure for quality, but it is very effective in showing that there are a lot of people who like it, and a perfect indicator that the producers are doing something right.

Kids love it, that’s for sure. It is being marathoned in timeslots meant for kids, and to its credit, it manages to incorporate adult subject matter, without relying on it exclusively. That way, even viewers who fail to spot the subtle allusion to mature topics (such as discrimination and peer pressure) will not feel like they’re missing out on anything. They could focus on the slapstick and the bug-eyed, heavily caricatured art style.

So, if you’re part of the group of people who hate the show, Toonbarn would like to know why?

Do you hate the show because the art style looks immature?

Do you hate the show because you think the jokes are lame and shallow?

Do you hate the show because you’re an adult and you think you’re not supposed to like kid’s shows?

Or do you hate it because it’s what Warner and CN gave you when they could have continued Teen Titans?

We are genuinely interested. Sound off in the comments below.

In Two Parter: Part Two, the Titans find themselves as the only available heroes that can help the members of the Justice League, who have all been abducted by the powerful supervillain Darkseid.
