Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reboot Shut Down
It seems that all the public outrage regarding Michael Bay’s planned reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie franchise has been heard by someone from above (whether that someone is a divine being or just an exec who actually values feedback is up to you), because Paramount Pictures has just shut down production on the film, citing troubles with the script. According to some sources, the film’s release has been pushed back to 2014, from its original December 2013 schedule.
The Ninja Turtles, which Bay says will feature Turtles of alien origin instead of the original earth-based mutant and teen-aged ones, was supposed to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) and penned by original co-creator Kevin Eastman with help from Andre Nemec. Sources also say that the preproduction staff members from Vancouver have been temporarily laid off, and those involved in prepping the film were informed that the shutdown time frame is “indefinite”.
